i have a rifle being built right now and it has a matte-ish black cerakoted action and a matte stainless barrel. I have a pt&g stainless recoil lug to go with it. My question is should the lug be coated to match the action or media blasted to match the barrel? Anybody have expericence with 2 tone rifles? Which way looks better?

I own several firearms that are black and stainless the 2 go together like peas and carrots IMO. Take a look at Weatherby Accumarks.

Your taste may vary.

Good luck and shoot straight y'all

Right, i agree it looks very attractive. The question though, was is your recoil lug stainless to match the barrel, or black to match the action?

Its a fussy little thing i know, but thats the beauty of having a custom rifle built

I've got a 2 toner being built right now. Gloss black action and the barrel is polished stainless. The recoil lug (came with the Criterion barrel) is also polished stainless.

Leaving it Stainless is probably better for the paint chipping aspect. Either way, I don't think it would truly look better one way or another. Most of mine are stainless.

OK..Look I hardly think these are ugly rifles. What's that old quote by T. Whelen..? 300-Win-Mag-3.jpg

D, I've seen scores of color combos. Most are aesthetically appealing, even saw a couple lady's with fu fu pink. Most any barrel, action, stock color combination look good. I am sick of seeing the black Tupperware and matte action/barrel though.

I never really looked at mine? But I don't care that much.
Pretty is as Pretty does?

Sure i understand that, theres no doubt it will shoot "pretty". I realize this is a minute detail but as was stated before i have a lot of $$$ in the gun so i want every detail to be perfect. I just know if the recoil lug isnt right it would be an eyesore to me. So i asked a group that has a lot of custom builds.

I would have the recoil lug pinned and cerakoted to match the action. I believe it will look best
