Looking at getting into long range shooting and am looking at either some sort of Precision Bolt action like the Ruger Precision or I'm also looking at the Noreen AR in 300 win, been hunting my hole life and really getting the itch to shoot longer distances, so I guess I wanted to see if anyone has any idea how accurate the Noreen AR is?

Welcome aboard! I have seen those a couple of times and thought "what a great idea!" Finally, an AR with teeth. I looked at their website and it can be had in .300WinMag or 7mmRemMag but with a 22" barrel. I suppose that would work; maybe try a 190 to 200gn bullet with a faster burning powder; say RL17, N560 to compensate for the shorter tube. Just guessin'.
I saw a Ruger Hawkeye Long Range Target the other day in .300WInMag and was impressed. Looked it up and the stock is a painted, laminated wood. Barrel is 26, 5R, 1-9" twist threaded with muzzle brake. Lots of features.
Sorry I strayed but again, welcome to LRH.

I wouldn't say there is anything wrong with them, I just think they're too flashy and a bit over priced. I just want a more simple AR in a larger caliber and one that I'm not afraid to throw into backpack and hump out to bag some Elk.

300 Win Mag doesn't really kick that much from my experience with my Rem 700 and my Win M70, so the triple recoil system isn't really needed.. maybe better suited with 416 and above? I am just looking for an accurate rifle in the AR form. I use a 308 AR for boar and deer - but I would like something semi auto for larger game and that's why I'm here.

From what you've said, Noreen is the way to go. Do you have experience with larger caliber ARs?

Holy crap! Didn't even know they made ar platform in those calibers. Gotta LOVE our FREE country gentlemen, and ladies! Makes me proud!
My experience with Unca Sams ars has been good and would guess if you reload you can find something that will shoot well.
Good luck friend and can't wait to here more about it.

I have shot the Noreen in 338 Lapua. Very impressive but we just shot steel at 800 yards so can't tell how accurate. I have a RPR in both 338 and 300 Win Mag. They shoot very good. Heavy at 15 pounds dry. Very effective brake. There is a reason I have both.

Look into HAVING THE THROAT cut .15-.2" longer to allow the the short winneys neck to grow that length upon firing, to better grip the 190s and 200s.
And research the original standard reloading mauals (Lyman's) from the late 60's where factory specs were easily duplicated, 180s @ 3080 FPS, with 72.5 of 4350. Much shorter recoil impulse to cycle the action and lower recoil than today's slower powders standardized to slower MVs.
Amazing accuracy If it'll chamber a once fired, partially neck sized case, (just short of the rear of the neck).
Been reloading the 300WM since 1968.

The cheaper 300wm Noreen makes is the bn36. I've been reading about problems over on snipershide Noreen has had with the 300wm in the bn36 model. Noreen themselves eventually chimed it and admitted to problems but said in a round about way the problems have been corrected. So If I did buy one I'd call and talk to Noreen directly about it. There were a couple pretty ****ed people in the convo and one of them was on the firing line next to the guy that had his bn36 discharge out of battery, blowing the gun up. If your looking for one id do a little checking and calling to be safe
