The Army (conventional) still uses moa turret/mil reticle scopes on 2 of our 3 issued Sniper Weapon Systems, and both are SFP. Just gotta learn to use both moa and mil.
You can also take that SFP mil reticle scope and adjust the magnification so the reticle subtentions are in minutes, not exactly 1 moa but it can help if you are thinking inches.
I wouldn't exactly kick that old Vietnam era crap to the curb. It works, just not as well as something new. Just like some of you old farts, how would you feel if the wife wanted a newer model?:D

MOA/MOA(SFP)for hunting, MIL/MIL(FFP) for competition.
Years ago, when I decided to pursue LR hunting, I wanted a quality scope with precise turrets. I acquired a Leupold Mark 4 which had MOA turrets and a MIL dot reticle. Having had some prior experience using the metric system, I learned the use of MILs to be able to range(effective to 500 yards on deer). It was fast and worked quite well. The affordable RF's back then had questionable performance. As RF's improved I found that I prefer using the MOA reticle for the improved resolution of wind holds on game. In hindsight having spent time with that MK4, mixing MOA and MILs in a scope does not make sense to me, making spotting hits/corrections cumbersome. IMO.

i like either, i just want them to match. the math for moa is easier for me to do in my head than mils.

I have both types of reticles and turrets. I learned with mil reticle with moa turrets. My use with the reticle was for ranging with which I do not do much of anymore. I use a range finder. My newest scopes have moa/ moa. I use a ballistics chart taped to my stock which gives moa and mil holdovers for different ranges. The only calculation I do now are the odd numbers in between the 100's. I realize that typically there is no time for ranging and then I use holdovers. Sorry for being long winded.
It would be a fun competition to,let's say, out to 800 yards or so, use reticles to range and shoot bullseyes at various distances, just using reticles for ranging targets.

MOA for both. It never made any sense to me to have an MOA turret and Mil reticle. Used to live with that set up. Sucks. Way better now.
