Loads For Berger Elite Hunter 7mm Rem Mag 175 Grain

Hello To All,

Does anyone have any load info on the Berger Elite Hunter 175 grain bullets in 7mm Rem Mag? Will be using a Tikka T3 Superlite rifle with a 1:9.5 twist. I live in Hawaii, and am having a difficult time obtaining Berger's reloading manual.

Planning to develop a load to get this rifle to shoot out to 600 yards.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I don't presently have a 7mm mag - if I did I would search hard for some N570, hopefully someone can offer some data with that.

I would not develop a load on n570 until you know there will be a supply of it. I havnt seen any in almost a year. Don't waste your time

I run 7mm rem mag with Nosler brass. 70.5 grains of retumbo, start low it is above listed max charge but no signs of pressure. I use wlrm primers. I developed the load because I couldn't get 215m primers at the time. I am going to rework recipe (primers) soon I bought a magnetospeed and my load wasn't finished but I got through deer season. Shot equally well with 69.3-69.7 of h1000. I have heard of reloader 26 at 68 grains. Approach these slowly they have ability to be high pressure. All groups were under .300 at 100 very repeatable. Good luck and work up slow.

Nosler brass, IMR 7828 SSC or 7977, Fed 215M primers.

Very accurate bullet, node is around 2950

With my admittedly limited experience I believe the 160-168 grain bullet to be the top of the sweet spot for the 7mm RM. 70 grains of H1000 behind a 160 grain Partition has a 98% load density. When you go up to 175 grain bullets then you drop to around 66 grains for a 90% load density. Load development using 65 grains of H4831 for the 160 Partition, 89% load density, is no where near as accurate. Load development for both my 7mm RM and 22-250 Rem seems to validate what I have read from Hodgdon, best accuracy is "likely" to be found with powders that have high load densities for your cartridge. I see a consistent tendency of the groups getting smaller as I work up the load ladder and the load density increases. Again, I am a rookie and have not ventured beyond the published maximums.

Hard to find but, if you can get your hands on some Reloder 22, it's been pretty awesome with 175s in the 62-63 grain range. As ppoole mentioned, around 2950 seems to be a good accuracy node in the 7mags I've tried this in at least. I've had decent accuracy with other powders but at much lower velocities.
