Actual difference between 6.5 creedmoor and 6.5x55 with RELOADS??

chronoed my swede the other day at 7 degrees temp 142 lrab at 2668fps under 1/2 minute and with 155 lapua mega at 2500fps also 1/2 minute
 
Im not shoving it hard but it is stupidly accurate. I'm sure there are faster powders but the animals wont know the difference
 
Not a Creedmoor hater, just like the Swede better. JMO, of course. Then again, in my 24" Pacnor barrel, with the 142 LRAB and IMR4350 I stopped my load development when I got a 4 shot .33" group @ 100 yards and 2800 fps velocity. (saved the 5th round to use to set up to load the others.
I had 2 or 3 more loads to try when I settled on that load. They all got pulled.
 
this is a 5 shot group at 100 using 142 LRAB. I then screened 2668 at 7degrees temp. I imagine I will gain a little velocity when it gets hotter. Im using H100v

I won't frighten you wth my age but my son just turned 57:D--I estimate a +25 feet/ sec increse per barrel inch over 24".

Personally I like the idea of 22.5 inch barrel but not sure if I'll lose much speed with the shorter barreled guns. Since I will be reloading, I'm not concerned about factory ammo.

Both the sweed and the creed are excellent as they are without overloading them. my experience after years of hunting and shooting many small and large game animals is get a good quality gun that fits you and your not afraid of, use good quality bullets. practice shooting so you can hit a quarter at least 9 out of 10 at a hundred yards. study you animals to be hunted, know where the vitals are. do all these things and your sweed and or creed or most other mid sized shooters will do the job just fine. with large dangerous game I like to break them down with the first shot then place a kill shot.
 
In all of the reading Ive done the weakest rifles were early 1894's and they chambered some in Krag rifles. I have a husky and I load it up but only for stupid accuracy. Having shot both I would feel well armed with both.
 
I have been a Swede fan for 20+ years.
I mostly shoot cast bullets at AR 500 plates mostly at 240-270 yds. Occasionally I go to 375 yards. I shoot for fun and the Swede is one of my fun guns! Investing in a rear aperture sight allows for windage as well as elevation adjustments.

Hi GPO-I have to agree with you absolutely! I own a Tikka in 6.5x55Swede and it is by far the most accurate rifle I own. I am a handloader and my very first trial load I was able to put 3 shots in a dime, 2.5" high dead center @100 yrds! Needless to say my first trial load is also my last trial load. I used a 140gr Nosler Accubond, Re-22 powder CCI primers, new Lapua Brass. If you want more details, such a weight, seating depth, let me know. Happy shooting!
