Any one go 6.5 stw

I bet it would be a great cartridge and give the 26 Nosler & 6.5-300 Weatherby a run for their money. I don't know too much about it, though.

Your 8 twist would probably get up to 3300 or 3400 with 130-140 class bullets. Only detractor would be magazine length. 264 win mag would be better in this regard at the sacrifice of HP. Mcwhorter or somebody use to run a cartridge called the 257 hot tamale. It was an STW necked down to .257.

6.5 would be fun too. I would say pretty comparable to the 26 nosler. As a general hunting rifle it would probably last 2 lifetimes...700-900 rds of good barrel life

Got it on model 110 fcp that was 338 lapua magnum. Those mags did not work well. I have the ultra mag which seems like it is gonna work well. I kinda want a try 100 grainers just to see what they do. I gotta get gauges before the weather breaks and get started. I've been shooting 147 eld m's out of 6.5x47 lapua. I have 400 so I'll try them if I can't get lighter bullets to shoot. I don't have a real fast flat shooting rifle so I kind of want to hot rod it. Screw barrel life. :D

i have a 257 stw, got about 400 rounds down the tube, still shoots good. its a pac-nor 25 " sendero contour, real fun gun to shoot. i just had it set back, and rechambered. gunsmith said i was good to go.rifling was still in good shape. this is a hunting gun that was built in 1998. it runs a 100 grain ttsx at 3800 plus. i like my drag racer. it was built to hunt powerline's during the rut.
