In Canada, the elk were eating all the ranchers alfalfa/hay. They were issued a final check with a note instructing them to use the funds to build elk proof barriers to protect the feed, no further checks would be issued. As a result, the elk close to the border migrated sooner to the U.S., maybe B.C. and Alberta need to kick in for our game loss, cause the wolves did fallow. Lol.

You really don't want the amount to be twice that, do you?
I'm paying enough taxes and am self employed.
There are better ways. I pick poison over higher taxes, the birds will recover

I get your point/feelings. I used to be involved in things that were...let's just say, less than conventional.
Kinda paveing my own way. It didn't do any good.
What I've found is that (not ever living in a wolf free state) as a sportsperson, I maybe did the cause more harm than good, implementing gorilla tactics that I won't go into on open forum.
Fallow the money- it's not that hard.
The link I showed in my last post is the best way to spend wolf control money. Although I don't believe in wolves, in our conservative system. This is the best chance we currently have, to evolve the 3 sides that are being represented in wolf management. IMO.

Any wolf outside of the management areas are considered predators, and are legal to take.

Man....I would love to do that. I live in central Indiana and I am not a deer hunter but love hunting coyotes. Wolf would be awesome but got to know someone for a guide out there.

I totally agree. I think the USFWS should be paying that tab.
Them, and all the wolf hugging idiots who don't understand how nature works once the wolves kill off all their food sources.

Wolves and hooved animals lived side by side for thousands of years. Nature works just fine. Sorry if all you out west have to actually hunt now instead of just glassing from the road. Wolves keep elk moving which helps the trees which brings in more beavers creating more water areas for birds and other species. That's how nature works. Is it healthy to see herds with thousands of elk in them? No it's not.

The herds needed to be thinned, I can agree with that, not nearly to the extent that they have been is some areas.
It's no different than when the coyotes clear out every rabbit and ground squirrel in a particular area. The only difference is the rabbits and ground squirrels can recover quickly, but elk, deer and moose cannot.
When the wolves get overpopulated and start dying of mange wolf huggers will be first in line to demand we do something.

Sign me up to be first in line to finish them off.

Wow.....there is lots of propaganda Kool-Aid to drink in that one...... Kinda reminds me of a Greenie demonstrating soil erosion to show how bad construction is. She spread 1/2" of loose dirt on a sloped piece of PLASTIC, and then dumped a bucket of water at the top and said "See, that's what construction and Logging does!" She got defensive when asked where the plastic layer in the earth was.........Cause last I checked the Earth soaks up some water... I think there is lots of canyons you jumped over to make those connections, but I bet it makes a pretty display board at the tourist traps along the roads......
Yes too many elk in one spot is a bad thing, but I think that WE are capable of managing them? So let us!
