What type of bullet did you use on your last elk?

Pick the bullet that most correlates to a choice.

Also if you have a chance, tell us the muzzle velocity, and how did it do? Also note the impact velocity and range if you can.

Thanks for providing this info. As a long time elk hunter i'm trying to look outside my box and see what others are doing.

My elk: .375 cal., 250 Barnes TTSX @3130 muzzle velocity, only about a 250 yard shot, impact velocity approximately 2700 fps. Impact point, broadside, near base of neck, down immediately, bullet exited

Wife's elk: .338 ca., 225 Barnes TTSX @ 2950 muzzle velocity, about 200 yards, impact velocity approximately 2670, impact point, slight angle broadside, elk went approximately 20 yards, bullet exited

It was a heavy bull, quartered to me, hit the heavy shoulder bone just above the knee dead center. It destroyed the heart and lungs and continued into the guts. No exit. Bull took a few steps and went down.
This was the shot I was a little worried about with this bullet, there's not a whole lot more punishing situation you can find for a bullet on north American game. It did very well.

My last elk a 100 gr.2 blade phat head on 420 gr acc.Elk before that 300 otm 338,2750 muzzle.One extreme to the other?

That is impressive!

300 otm 338 at 2750,50 paces,exit about fist size.Tried to get set up on bull at 845 then it moved out of site.

Most recent elk was 225 gr eld-m 2800 fps at the muzzle and impact velocity of 1960 fps at 830 yards. One shot perfectly placed completely liquified his insides. Stumbled for 20 yards then tipped over and rolled to the bottom.

Berger 215 Hybrid.

Nosler 7mm 140 grain E-Tip. Muzzle velocity was 2,780 fps. Shot her at 370 yards, don't know what the impact velocity and energy were. Bullet went through her.

Berger 215 Hybird. 300 Wsm 2650 fps. 455 yards. Behind the shoulder, but just a tad high. Bull never moved. Went down right where he stood kicked a couple times and that was it. My son went down and took care of the elk while I went for pack animals. So I don't know if it went clear through or not.

210 Berger VLD from 300 Wby with 2870 fps muzzle velocity at 372 yards.....DRT!

Patched round ball in a .54 cal muzzleloader. Never chronographed the load, but DRT.

.338 cal 300 gr Berger at 2650. Bull was 250 yards away, hit a bit high and back. One lung was vaporized and the other looked like it was hit with a baseball bat. Found the bullet in the far side hide. Nothing but a jacket with a little lead. Bull DRT, but I have since switch to Hammer Solids...

168 Berger vld 2900 fps muzzle 796 yards. Broke both sholders.
