Help on Savage stock

I'm not a savage guy but my brother likes them and has a 116 trophy hunter without the accustock. He's looking at a Bell and Carlson sporter and is wondering what fits. His rifle has a detachable mag and a bottom bolt release (little black button in front of trigger guard) would this be the right stock? I'm a little confused at savage model numbers and series to start with and this stock doesn't say anything for a rifle model. Anyone ever tried one? Post some info or a picture if anyone has one.

I don't have one of their stocks but do have a Savage 116 with bottom bolt release.
You want the stock cut for the bottom bolt release. That is the 1017 one above.

Ok that's what I figured. Do you think it matters accustock vs non-accustock rifles or are the actions the same?

Yes they are the same. Some times the action screws are slightly different lengths on Savage actions from the factory. But that depends on whether it is a wood stock or synthetic. I believe the plastic and Accutock screws are the same.

Yea, aluminum bedding blocks are heavy. Sometimes weight is your friend though. Might shoot better with the aluminum bedding and extra weight.

Does the bottom metal off the old savage stock fit into the B & C ?

I emailed Bell and Carlson and they said the bottom bolt release stock will work keeping all your old stocks "hardware" so I'm guessing you use the bottom metal from the factory stock.

Yes bottom metal fits right in.

That is a #3 contour .670 at muzzle
