I just put a Swarovski Calibrated Ballistic Turret on my Swarovski X5 scope.

I haven't shot it yet past my 100 yard zero so I was wondering if any of you are using these knobs, Kenton, etc could tell me how accurate they are for the dialed range.....assuming that you entered the correct data and you are shooting at same temperature and altitude that it is Calibrated for.

Thanks Fellas!

One bullet, one speed, one temp, one air density, one humidity? Should be good to go as long as all of your inputs they went off are correct.

I hunt from -4° to 110°+, from 800' to 9500'+, bullets and loads change with where/when/what I am hunting. So no, it would not work for me.

he said it ^

its usually unlikely that you will maintain the same atmospherics and Density Altitude through out the year.

If you mostly hunt a single elevation (most of MI is 1000' msl) and you convert the drop data you measure to a drop table at your primary hunting condition (1000ft, 20F, 40% RH) in my case, then the resulting dope will be good for most of my winter conditions in Michigan.

Of course I wouldnt be shooting past 400 yards, but would still have a very good correction for bullet drop from my 160 yard zero and data for wind correction.

I had 1 such elevation turret knob made for my nikon scope, which has a very simple duplex reticle, but now that I have FFP reticles its faster for me use the reticle for holdover if im in a time crunch. Meanwhile I no longer use any of my special elevation turret knobs....

Have tipped coyotes over to 600 yards with the wife's 6.5-06 that has a Kenton industries turret on it. I think that's about the limit of them though

The other consideration is what is the use? If it is hunting big game out to 600 - 800 yards, then it is plenty accurate enough for kill shots. On the other hand, if it is for target shooting then it will be off at those distances if any of the inputs you have mentioned are changed. In this case, I believe a good app with current conditions in putted is a better solution than a generic turret.
