Where is the berger 245gr?

I was told By Berger to wait till After the shot show to see where things are. I to am not holding my breath. But I would like to see what they have to offer when it is done. I just hope its not a long wait for not much gain, if any for that matter because of the speed loss. Only time will tell. Mean while I will keep running the 230 grain class Bullets.

Instead of coming out with heavier and touch higher B.C bullets why dont they work on getting the B.C better with what they already have would be more beneficial to us shooters and produce them.
Exactly. Allow me to preface this by stating that I shoot Berger bullets in six of my rifles. It's marketing mostly hype seeking to create a buzz that doesn't mean anything for the majority of 30 cal shooters. I know only a couple of guys shooting 8 twist or 9 twist 30 caliber large capacity magnums, 30/338 Lapua, 300 RUM, ect. that could send anything bigger that the existing 230g offerings they already haven't been able to effectively supply over the last several years.
The overwhelming majority of us don't have anything that could efficiently send these new bullets, they own and shoot 308, maybe a 30/06, or a 300Win. A 230g becomes a marginal return in a factory 300Win, let alone something heavier. Furthermore, the overwhelming majority of 30 cal rifles are 10 twist and slower. It's simply excluding more and more of the market to serve less and less clients.
As a business owner myself, it makes more sense to commit more resources to better serve the customers that they already have. It's great to innovate and open new markets, however, it shouldn't continue to be at the expense of the majority of the market you serve. There are a number of threads on just this forum over the last couple of years with folks looking for alternatives to a Berger bullet that they can't consistently obtain. Those are all lost clients for Berger and lost revenue. I have been fortunate over the years to be able to get enough bullets when they are available to last the potential life of my barrels and haven't had to deal with the PIA it is to start over with a new bullet because the regular bullet is out of stock.
My hope is that Berger can get a few new bullets, this one included,to the market, but better serve the folks that they already count as customers.

As long as they keep the bearing surface short that will help with the speed end of things a little and help keep more of the bullet out of the case. That to can be over come with a longer throat.

They are saying .800 BC and better. There currant 230 is .717 So it would be a step up for sure. But the loss of speed could offset it.

And now cutting edge is testing a 240 grain Lazer max in .308. We will see how that one works.

If I can shoot the new 245 (when and if it gets here) @3300 FPS I will be a happy guy. Long range hammer. Also would give a guy a taste of ELR shooting without jumping up to the "BIG" guns. Thats super sonic to 2600 Yards. Even @ 3250 it still super sonic to 2600 yards. Same load for hunting could be used to play around with ELR shooting. If the bullet transision good you could try for 2 miles for the fun of it with your hunting load. It would only be doing about 900 fps @ 3520 yards.. LOL that slow!

For what it is worth ...
