IMR 8133

Has anyone burned this powder yet ? I'm thinking of trying in in my newly acquired 338-378 WBY Mag

Just picked up a couple pounds and will be trying it in a 300 RUM and 6.5-300 WBY. On paper it looks promising but nothing to report as of yet though...

I tried it in my 30-338 rum imp. I lost 30-40 fps. compared to rl-33 and it is a little bulkier than rl-33 so ran out of room in case. it dose burn a lot cleaner than 33 and the copper fouling was reduced just like the IMR7977 that I used in my 300 win mag.
in my 6.5-300 win mag I had no problem getting 26 nosler velocities but never could find an accurate load and gave up in that gun
the temp sensitivity has been much better than rl-33 pretty close to retumbo.

8133 gave me an extra 50 fps over Retumbo loaded to the same pressure in my 300 RUM.

Ran some through my 338RUM for the break in, had to send the rifle back for action issues. But.... the speeds I was seeing from mere low break in loads was impressive, with no signs of over pressure. I was getting over book speed at max from base book charges as per the Hodgdon website. From a 28" suppressed barrel I was running 300grSMK up to 2820 for the first 15rds. That speeds is where Hodgdon puts the 92gr load on the website. I'm hoping I've got a combination of fast barrel and a great new powder.

86 Alaskan what problems were you having with your action ?

early make of a new model. the action had basically no primary extraction which made opening the bolt very difficult. new action on the way. the rifle shot great otherwise, so I hope that holds up with the new action.

Rem 700 ?

700 based, custom CNC action from a company out of PA, TL technologies. they worked with me very well and have me hooked up with the new and improved version. the action has lots of great features and the new version is very well made. highly rec them purely from a CS stand point.

I've just started working up a load for my MV in 338-378 with 270 grain ELD-X bullets. I hit pressure signs with 106 gr or H1000 and so far with 8133 I have not found the pressure limits and am over 3000 fps with a stock Accumark 26" with the Accubrake on it. I can't remember exactly what my charge was, I'll check tomorrow but it's less than what the books are showing for 265-285 grain Barnes bullets. I haven't found any really good 270 grain ELD-X data so I'm "starting low and working up". My POI change quite a bit from H1000 to 8133 with similar velocities.

Just ordered some to try in my 338 terminator pushing 300gr Berger's. I'll let you know how things go

So far I like it in my 300 RUM. I'm getting 3140fps pushing a 215 berger. I need to compare that to some N570 I have loaded up.
