FYI for those considering buying older Leica rangefinders certain products may not be serviceable. I mailed in my 7 × 42 BDA''s for some R&R and they informed me that they were no longer servicing them and offered me upgrade options. This was after I called and asked if they could service it . They told me yes..

I spent a bunch on terrapin dropped once and not working, quoted $800 no refund to look at and up to $1500 to fix.Have two old leicas that have been threw the ringer still going strong

I really like mine also I'm having them sent back they are still working fine just some cosmetic damage from years of use.. I sent the post in case somebody was anticipating buying a non-working pair expecting them to be serviceable.

I love Leica optics but service sucks. This is very common with models even 5 years discontinued. They will normally offer you the new model at a significantly reduced price. I traded up range finders and spotting scopes over the years. I have had Swarovski fix very old items no charge.
