i see most coyotes out squirrel hunting or just riding horses here in the Ga mountains. Never too far away. Is the 22 rifle sufficient for clean coyote kills? They are really taking over my deer camp. Had over 800 videos in a 2 week time frame on trail cam and as many coyotes and fox as deer. Fox no issue. Coyotes I want dead.

It will kill them! How fast depends where you hit them? But even if they get away
they should die later. Bottom line the coyote is dead!
On our deer hunting property ALL coyotes MUST be shot on sight! Pass on one and you will be asked to leave!

It's a place where I'm the only hunter with my young grand children. No rules. I'm with you. I don't care if he dies later as long as he's dead.

If you are the only one there..Use traps! I can trap more in a month than most Varmint hunters shoot in a year! I use MB-650's with offset cast jaws anchored with Wolf Fang
anchors..I make my bait..But you can buy it ready made.
You can hide a trap where you wouldn't dare shoot!

I have tried the .22 on coyotes a few times while squirrel hunting or rabbit hunting. Just not enough there to anchor one with anything other than a head shot.

I have killed a couple with a 22 LR - both times while I was out rabbit hunting. Both times the shots were within 50 yards. It wasn't bang flop scenarios, but i found them both dead within 100 yards of where I shot them. A 17hmr or a 22 mag would perform a little better as far as rimfires go, but I say shoot away!

I use a Ruger 10/22 all the time in one of my hunting areas, I hike thru a popular forest area and I can fit a folding 10/22 in my pack and go unnoticed by the tree huggers. Nothing past 75 yards, I use the segmented hollow points and have taken a dozen or so without issues. We have normal size coyotes here, not the wolf sizes ones. If you are worried try the CCI Stingers at 1,650 fps or something similar.

I carry a Marlin 39 with Agulia sub sonic with me as I ride around the property. Ear shot at less than 50 yards, no sound and grave yard dead. I know what the rifle is capable of with that round and I adhere to it

Just my 2 cents

They tend to run off for a bit with 22 even with fairly good shot placement. I would get something bigger for quicker kills
