Anyone have experience with this? The velocity seems pretty sweet and thought about picking up some for a 270WSM. Problem is no one seems to have it...
Also, as I'm new to reloading and done't honestly know, but what Hodgdon powder would be comparable to the RL 16, if any?
Thanks

Not Hodgdon but IMR 4451 seemed to run close in alot of ways to Rl16 in a 260 I did some load work for. Good fill velocity was similar and both seem to shot better off the top some vs right near the edge of pressure. Barrel was a light contour 22ish inches. Ended up with RL26 in the end

If your looking at something with a similar burn rate as RL16, you may want to look at Hodgdon H4350. Quite a few recipes available for the 270 WSM with this powder and several bullet weight / manufacturers.

I have used a lot of Reloder 16 in other calibers, but in my 270 WSM Reloder 23 which is the same family of temperature stable clean burning powder worked so well I never looked any further. Runs the 145 ELDX bullet over 3200fps.

I use RL16 in my 260 rem with 140gr bullets. I get better speed an ES/SD than with H4350. I run a 140gr ELD-M at 2850 out of a 24" barrel suppressed with RL16.
