30 Nosler brass

I would be leery of Nosler "blem". In the past it has meant horrible weight differences and neck thickness.

I've had decent luck with 300 Win and 338 RUM blems when brass supplies were low. I actually found a pack of 300 Win blems in my stash that I never used. It's weight spread is actually quite stellar compared to some of the other crap I've weighed lately. I even found a primed one.

I'm not sure about neck thickness, it's not something I worry about.

I've been shooting almost exclusively Nosler "blem" brass in my STW's and 7mmRM's for years. The weights have been perfect, the brass has been perfect. The only thing it refers to is cosmetic blemishes, which has to do with discoloration, etc... After the first cleaning and polishing, they look perfect.

I am glad it has been great for you. I was not making a speculation. I was speaking from experience. I have bought Nosler blem and it sucked in every way. I have used Nosler more than any other brass and it has been great but I will not take a chance on blem again.

Out of curiosity I went out to the closet and found and weighed three packs of blems. Here are the cases I found and weighed a few minutes ago.

1x 50 count 300 Win that weighed 216.3 to 217.8
1x25 count 338 RUM that weighed 283.6 to 285.2 (21 of 25 were between 284 and 285)
1x25 count 300 RUM that weighed 288.6 to 291.3

It makes me wonder if the cases that come from Norma are different than other Nosler cases. I have heard Nosler started making some of their brass in house i'm not sure which cases, though.

My Norma and Nosler 300 Win has always weighed 215 +- 1. I really haven't paid much attention to cartridges I haven't played with.

Nosler bought Silver State Armory, who had their own brass manufacturing plant. So, I'm sure they're making all their own now...But I could be wrong. I'm about 99.9% sure Norma was who used to make Nosler's brass.

You can buy 30 Nosler ammo for as little as $50/box and get 1st quality brass. (MidsouthShootersSupply)
I bought 7-8 boxes just before I had my rifle built and paid about $35/box when they had a sale at MidwayUSA. I bought 180gr AB and 210gr ABLR ammo at the time. I pulled the 180's and reset them at a much longer length (.030" off). I also neck turned them just a bit while I was at it. They now shoot 1/2 moa at the longer length.
