Hey guys, not been on here for a few years ,but Im in need of some advise.
Before, my long range gun was Remington 700 BDL SS DM in 7mmSTW. I still love that gun!
Since I have aquired a Weatherby Accumark in 300 weatherby mag and the latest beast ,30-378 Weatherby mag Accumark.
I am leaning toward 180 grain Bullet, possibly Barnes LRX as I strickly shoot barnes bullets hunting for years. I am a fan of Scirroco also.Anyone got good reload for my latest toy? Weatherby factory loads are in the ballpark, but $156 a box Id rather reload.
This will be a hunting round. Maybe the end of a big Muley in Nebraska next season. Thanks

I shot 180 gr sciroccos in mine. Been a long time but if I remember right it was with a hat full of h870. Seems like it would fling them nearly 3500. Exit made interesting patterns on the ground. Red ribbons instead of spray. Cool. Thing had more muzzle blast than I could stand. I actually had it knock my hat off with blast, no bull i swear. Sold it cheap. Kinda wish i still had it with a longer barrel, maybe 30". It was awesome. Shot well with those bullets.

One thing I do remember is NEVER load less than the listed starting load in a cartridge like this. You can blow yourself up. Mine shot best loaded hot anyway.

My STW blows my hat off at the range quite often

Here is what i've tried in my 30/378
200 gr Nosler part--115 grs H-870 Fed 215 vel 3220 ft/sec
200 gr Nosler part--114 grs H-5010 Fed 215 vel 3255 ft/sec
180 gr Barnes xlc 117 grs H-870 Fed 215 Vel 3362 ft/sec
190 gr Hornady SBT 115 grs H-5010 Fed 2115 vel 3238 ft/sec
200 gr Nosler part 112 grs RL-33 Fed 215 vel 3160 ft/sec
175 Barnes XLC 115 grs RL-33 fed 215 vel 3400 ft/sec
210 Berger 103.5 grs Norma 217 Fed 215
All loads used Weatherby cases and OAL was 3.790 My experience with primers is that as soon as I used any primer other than a Fed 215 strange things happened, hang fires , pressure spikes, etc for no apparent reason.

Thnk you
When the first 30-378 loads were developed , The Fed.215 was only one hot enough. That may have changed, but I had already decided to stick with them for this rifle. Winchester primers have given me good results with my other guns, but I figured the man that developed the first loads choice would save me the headaches you speak of.

Did I mention that first load data came from Layne Simpson? The same man the developed and named my favorite , The 7mm STW.
His data was given to norma for the first factory loads. Its no wonder I have been obsessed with this caliber for some time. I just couldnt justify the need, but I finally said what the heck. I needed a reason to buy another Accumark, now about this 6.5 mm craze.........
Another Accumark????
