I have been wanting to build a .284, or buy for that matter, for a longer range hunting rifle. I know there are about 1 million versions of a 7mm rifle, but for some reason I always liked the .284 Win. Anyone else out there running this in a short action with the 160 class pills?

Thanks!

That is great velocity from a 22" tube! I am looking at the short action only because I want a multi-purpose rifle, so figuring that is the best way to go for a detachable magazine system...

Some long range F-class shooters are going back to the .284 over various 6.5's as the 7mm 180 VLDs have less wind deflection.

Good luck

Jerry

all the 160 class bullets I tried in my 284 end up 3.1-3.2 inches touching. when trying to put in short action it kills the 284. do you have the action your using? is it standard bolt face ? the 7ss is a good choice but is mag bolt face. look at the 7-08 AI for a standard bolt face

all the Sherman wildcats can be found at Sherman Wildcats or look up ELKHOLIC on here Rich is the owner of Sherman wildcats
