Been putting it off too long and need to put a brake on my 7STW. I'm looking for recs for a brake that would not only reduce recoil, but really one that would reduce muzzle jump significantly. It's going on a Winchester Model 70, let me know if any more info is needed.

Vais is my first choice. I have them on a couple rifles and am impressed. A Vais turned my 300 RUM into a puutty cat.

I really like the Holland QD "Quick Discharge". If my form is correct, I can spot my hits every time with a 7RM shooting 180 bergers @ 2975 fps. and about 75% of the time shooting a 28 nosler shooting the 195s @ 3070 fps. Both are light rifles with carbon barrels.

I have a bunch of brakes on everything from 6mm Gibbs to a couple of 338 LM IMP.
Number one brake for reducing recoil and muzzle jump is Kirby Allen's 3 port medium Painkiller, the ports are angled back more then most. After that I like Ross Schuler's brakes http://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/muzzle-brakes.3957359/#post-37350535 .
I have a couple of Vias Brakes, but if you shoot from the prone position they throw grass and crud all over you, with radial ports the don't really any help muzzle jump. There are a lot of good brakes out the but these are what I gravitated to over the years depending on the size of the cartridge.
Just remember there is NO such thing as a quiet AND effective muzzle brake.

Definitely gotta say Muzzlebrakes and more in a lil beast or beast brake. They drastically reduce recoil and muzzle jump especially in the 4 port lil beast for smaller barrels and a 5 port beast brake for larger dia. barrels. The price is also extremely reasonable and they are better than the terminator series brakes that are 3x the money. My 4 port lil beast makes my 338RUM kick like a 243 and makes it easy to spot long range shots

My 13.5lb 300AX with its 5,000 ftlbs is very soft and flat shooting with the small PK brake.

In all honesty I think you'll get what you want just going with solid side discharging brake like any of the APA's or muzzle brakes and more or the Terminator series of brakes

I had the self timing 3port beast on my 6.5 creedmoor. I could spot hits 200yds and out above 6 power. At 100yds I could spot hits at 4 100% of the time and about 75% of the time at 5 n 6x

A brake with top ports will definitely minimize muzzle climb. However, there are a few high speed videos which show how dramatically they flex barrels and increase barrel oscillations. My PK brakes have them and seem to work well despite the videos which really make you wonder about the wisdom of using brakes that include top ports.

I have the same rifle in 7mm STW, 2 in 300wm, and 2 in 300 Rum. All wear the same brake made by Mac's Gunworks.

Actually have the same one on everything from .260 Rem up through .375 Ruger.
