.338 230gr eldX lowest expansion velocity?

What is the lowest impact velocity that the 338 230gr eldX should expand?

anyone have some real world experience with this?

I don't have info on the 338 so take this for what it's worth but the 143 eldx will expand down to around 1300'.

You should test it and decide for your self what you are willing to use as a floor for impact vel. I have a pretty strong opinion of low vel for good terminal performance. All of our bullets test well below our advertised min vel for hunting. I'll tell you the same as I tell my customers. Test them for your self to know what you ate comfortable with. This way you don't go wrong based on someone else's recommendation.

Shot an elk with one at 505 yards from my 338 Lapua muzzle velocity of 2980fps and left a fist sized exit hole in its chest impact velocity according to my Kestrel should have been about 2395fps. That's as much as I can help currently I might try them in my 338 federal if I ever get it built.

"If" they react similar to the ELDX's of my experience, and do reliably expand down to 1300 fps (which seems about right).....I'm not willing to "retreat" until velocities have been reduced to a point at which complete bullet "de-construction" is eminent! Simply put....not my first choice for an elk bullet! memtb

I concur on the 1300fps expansion in other calibers I've used but i wondered if the 230eldX had a thicker jacket to be pushed up at mag velocities of 338's like the WM and Lapua.
