His father doesn't hunt and he got the bug from somewhere so I have him for a handful of days here in Nashville, hoping to get his first deer. I'll drive him home to Georgia for thanksgiving with my father and sister (his mother).

Not exactly long range at 10 yds from our stand, but no complaints for a first deer for my 13 yr old nephew. Perfect shot and the 140 VLD out of the 6.5cr did the job. Big exit hole visible in the second pic. Great rifle for kids - hoping my 9 yr old son can get his first deer this season as well.

The little buck literally walked the path we took to the stand, walked past the stand, and was 10 yds from the base of the ladder. Surprised he didn't smell us but he wasn't exactly old and wise.

Processor is doing a rush job so we can take the meat home with him in a few days, which is really cool.

Something special taking a kid fishing, hunting, or even shooting. Heck these days any time volunteered towards the betterment of our kids is a good investment.

Good on you for taking time to help him!! It is a great experience that he will cherish for the rest of his life and always be appreciative that you helped him get his start in hunting. You should be commended for doing what you have for the young man, and congratulations to the new hunter on his first hunt being a success!!

Cool. I had one of my best deer hunting trips this year, but I barely hunted myself. Got my 13 year old nephew his first deer. Then helped a close friend get his first deer. Then helped another nephew get his biggest mulie ever. After playing guide, outfitter, spotter, butcher, pack mule, ballistician, camp cook, and clothier I ended up shooting a fork horn just to fill my tag. AND IT WAS AWESOME!

Great job! I took 2 of my nephews for their first deer. Nothing like it. Finally now take my own son. Good for you and great for the kid! Great shot. Dang nice looking little creedmoor too. Tell us about that little rifle.

This is great! So many kids are lost in the virtual world with no one to teach them about real life and death. It is great any time we can get a kid into the outdoors, Congrats on a great experience!
