I bought a mossberg 500 bantaam..put a cheap undertaker xt
choke (571 constriction) and am shooting the Magnum Blend
ammo...WOW..I put this together for my son..he killed a boss ton at 47the yards
and the bird didn't flop..I have used it to take two more from 25 and 44
yards ...only the closer bird flopped somewhat...I will sell my Benelli
and will use this gun..(or one just like it) from now on...you must
shoot the magnum blends for this result ..regular turkey ammo
wont do it...moderate recoil easy carrying ...and all out of a 22inchvixen barrel
GO GET EM

I and my wife both shoot the 500 mossberg, factory full choke, remington nitro 3" #5, just shot 3 toms in TN over past 2 weeks, one 55 yards, one 50 yards, one 60 yards, all mature toms and DRT.

Ive shot about 15 birds with this gun including my Oseola and they are fun:D

Gets my vote also. My wife and I had 835's for years and lots of turkeys. Bought the 20 ga. youth 870 laminated for our grandson who's not near old enough yet. Put in a primos tightwad for $20 and that thing is amazing. Killed two right off at 40+ and went straight and bought another just like, same results. Sold one of the 835's and almost paid for both 870's. I also use the Hevi mag blend and also the Hevi turkey #7 shot. Both work good, but I've found that the hevi shot 3" #5 works best for me.

An 835 has always been my primary turkey killer, but the farthest kill I've ever gotten on a turkey was with my 870 Express 20ga with the stock full choke.

It was a fall tag and I was hunting the top of our property. I hit a hen at 67 paces and she went down hard!

Like I wrote in another thread if you can shoot the lighter shot loads have more speed and more killing power at distance. You will always beat the patter of a 12ga also because of the smaller barrel.

My dad's 500 always patterned better than my 835 too. I don't know why I've always kept the same 835 going into my 19th season. I don't have one **** good thing to say about it lol!

I totally agree on the Magnum Blends...they are lethal out of a 20 gauge. My son uses them and can hammer virtually any turkey that I can

the 20 gauge is really an awesome gauge especially when you
combine it with a premium shotgun shell
that is the reason I opt to use the Hevishot family of ammo

I love my weathetby SA o8 youth, sum toy choke, and either hevi shot 7s or Fed heviweight 7s

I have decided to do some duck hunting with my 20 gauge
especially for teal....Hevi X 3" should be ideal out of my
20 gauge

My 12ga dedicated turkey guns have not hunted for the past 5 years. 20ga and TSS has changed the way I think. No longer hauling a heavy 12ga around, my 20 and TSS has killed out to 49 yds.

I bought a Rem 870 compact camo 20 gauge, added the Rem factory super full turkey choke, and had my gunsmith drill and tap the receiver so I could mount an Aimpoint 9000SC red dot. With Federal Heavyweight 3" #7's, it will flat knock a Tom over at 41 yards. Proof below.

20 gauges are very versatile guns and with the right ammo combination
highly lethal....my son shoots a Mossberg 20 with Hevi X and Speed Ball
ammo and flat wears ducks out
