G'day all,
Can anybody tell me the current export license on barrels cost to Australia please?

We are struggling to get barrel blanks here, looking for Bartlein and Kreiger currently and there are no blanks in the cals or twists I want.

Thanks all.

Cheers.
:D:confused:

I don't know what the cost is but you will need to get a hold of the department of state to get a license.

Thanks, I knew that, last time I got an export license on a complete rifle it was $220US, now I have heard it is $2200:eek:
Hoping this is false.

Cheers.

When I looked into it it was looking like $2500 minimum to over $7000 depending on a few factors. That cost was including the lawyers & consultants to help getting the State Department filings done and the filing fees. If you're not doing a bunch of volume, it's not financially workable anymore. Laws on the receiving side are frequently just as big of an issue.

You can apply for a 1 time exemption but I am not sure what their qualifications are for granting a 1 time exemption.

DSP-5 export license is required for the permanent export of firearms and ammunition unless an exemption applies. For a one-time exception request, send a letter to the address listed below:

Hbomb11,
Thank you for the info.
Bartlein emailed me, for ANY number of barrels from 1 to whatever is a one off/one use export license of $400US.
The laws at my end are pretty easy, I get an import license that is almost free, but the kicker is I HAVE to use an import broker to pass it through customs. Haven't heard what that costs.
When I imported a rifle a few years back, the fees were less than $600AU total. That was export/import fees and tax.
Oh well, times have changed.

Cheers.

Last I heard Canada had tightened up on Exporting Firearms parts due to the Liberal Governments interpretation of ITAR and the US kind of throwing their weight around on what they deem as "US" origin parts...even if the part originally was imported from elsewhere into the US, it now originates from the US...I don't purport to under stand how bureaucrat's work or think.... and so some Canadian companies are erring on the side of caution, because the US has went after some because the end user was on some restricted list kept by anyone of the various hodgepodge of government entities or even just because they didn't list foreign sale on the end user certificate when they imported the part into Canada.

Bartlein barrels may be able to help you find an import broker, given that they probably have shipped barrels there before and it would be in their files who was used, customs should also be able to direct you.
