A whole lot of experience has also led me to think when a person tells two different stories, only one might be true.

The original story is pathetic at best. The second story holds a little water .
I would say that is a pretty harsh statement, about a member that I'm pretty sure was excited about his bull and failed to give you all the evidence, in a concise formula.

Sounds to me like the guy was excited and posted real quick because of his excitement and didn't give the whole details of the situation.

Or you could play internet cop and dig way too far into it and call him a pathetic liar while the guy is cutting up his elk with his proud father and enjoying the moment that he probably won't get to do too many more times with his dad.

But hey...you have lost a lot of respect for a lot of people all at once because you have jumped to conclusions in about a 5 minute period while reading two paragraphs. I'd say you had a full day!

Lol this thread went to hell fast.

Congrats! While we will all take it if we walk right into a killer situation it's amusing to think how much we can prepare with fancy equipment, painstakingly chose which caliber to shoot, work up loads, practice in various positions etc then walk into the woods and shoot an elk at 50 yards!

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity

I guess I'm the only one who noticed that he said shot 2x at 50 yards and bedded 30 feet away. Going to get help and he should be dead in an hour.

Go Amax and Match,and FMJ.
Aww I'm goin to bed. This is a conjecture site. We post what we do and it gets graded. One ought to be carful how they post. I have read through to post #31 and am far from the " right thing" police. It just grinds me. Stealth still has to be a part of any hunting or it should just be left to "reset" on a computer game. But hey, who the heck am I to say or comment about stink. Really.. I am more concerned about a lil tiny weavel vs a wolf and or a moose population.

I place a high value on recovering game that you shoot. That being said, everyone I hunt with would have waitied a reasonable amount of time based on the shot placement of the animal and the terrain. Where I grew up hunting in north idaho, waiting at least 45 minutes was general practice. I've seen a "dead right there" bull at 100 yards get up and run when walking up to recover. Can't criticize people for trying to avoid this kind of occurrence.

It's just the way it was all put out there. A few more feet vs. stay off the phone connect and put it down.....
