Another Berger 215 1 shot kill and personal best

Congratulations! Great to see you were able to get some good meat for the freezer. Glad to see the stars aligned and you were able to validate the rifle at 700yrds and fill the tag as you were hoping for. Each kill at distance does wonders for confidence in a rifle and load. Thanks for sharing!
You're right about that. I experienced my best 3 shots this year. First I killed an antelope buck at 647 yards. One shot behind the shoulder. Ran 20 yards and flopped.
The next was the bull elk you see in my avatar. 630 yards, first shot was centered through both lungs. He spun and ran about 50 feet then stopped. Since he was across a canyon and in timber I sent another. Hit him 4 inches from the first shot and down he went.
Last long shot was the doe antelope at 724 I initiated this thread with. I don't pass up closer shots waiting for a longer one. It just all worked out that way this year. I've spent the last 12 years acquiring the tools and the skills to be able to make these kinds of shots. I practice alot out in the mountains here in Utah "Hunting rocks" replicating the types of actual hunting shots often get and it really paid off this year. I'll never take a shot at an animal that I haven't made in practice and have 100% confidence in. Someday I'll get the chance to make that thousand yard kill and when I do I will be totally confident. I owe allot of my success to the good people on this forum who freely share their knowledge.
