I have been reading here for a while now going over old and new threads looking for information about Elk and what it takes to put them down. My 12 year old daughter wanted to come to Montana this year and Elk hunt she has a Browning A Bolt in 7mm-08 so I loaded some 168gr Berger classic hunters behind a load of IMR 4350 at 2555fps topped it off with a Athlon Cronus BTR scope and off we went. Well Saturday was opening day and we got on a Bull that evening and he gave her a shot at 425 yards she was seated with rifle on a bog pod tripod I give the scope 2.5 mils up and she sent the shot. Elk turn walk down the hill slowly about 30 yards and fell over dead. She hit him right behind the shoulder blade. When I field dressed him the Berger had made a little hole in and blew up the lungs were gone. I was amazed at how well they performed. I just wanted to thank everyone for all the information on this site that helped me put a combo for my daughter that would work and to brag a little on my girl. Now I got till Friday to put her on a deer then she will be tagged out for 2018!
