Faster 6.5 Creedmoor

Im shooting a lilja barreled rem action. My question is with 127gr barnes lrx is it possible to achieve 3200 fps safely? Im not concerned with burning out the barrel or such. If it is possible which powder, primer, and brass do you recommend. Im looking for a hunting round. Thanks

If you want to do it RL26 is the ticket. People have run 140s to over 2900 FPS with it...

All copper bullets are long though and might start eating into your case capacity. I ran 13 Berger Classic Hunters up to 2975 FPS with RL26 and Lapua brass with a 24" barrel.
I would stay away from the Lapua brass though for higher speeds cause they are thick walled and have less case capacity. I would start with plain ole Hornady brass.

I'm pretty sure you could get close with Reloder 26 as I saw guys get a 140 grain over 2,900 fps, but I would use the Hammer Hunter instead for a couple reasons.
I used the 127LRX a little over 3,000 fps for years taking over 20 animals from pigs to elk but never recovered a single bullet and never had a blood trail, just a pencil exit. The animals were hit in the vitals and died but I never had more than a couple drops of blood. Very accurate bullets but didn't do what I wanted.
The Hammer is a softer copper, expands better, has less bearing surface so you should get more velocity, and they are not sensitive to seating depth as are the Barnes.

The reasoning behind my question is I want to be build another 6.5 creedmoor to use on a elk hunt and figured the extra horsepower would be useful. I have learned that with copper bullets there is no blood trail if you shoot any game under 100 yards.

Depends on your barrel length. I'm not sure it's possible to stuff enough rl-26 to do it. I was able to touch 3014 with a 140 eld before I ran out of room in hornady brass. Ended up settling on 2945fps. When I switched to adg and peterson my velocity suffered badly and now only get about 2850 with rl-26 due to heavier brass and lesser capacity.

You will be pushing it hard to get 3200 with a creed case. All the posts are correct Rl 26 will be your best bet though. Hammer bullets will get the job done.

If you can get it there is no guarantee that there will be an accuracy node there.

I will take accuracy over velocity (within reason) any day. My 6.5cm gets 2850 with 140 VLD's but is very accurate. If I wanted several hundred more FPS I would look for a cartridge where I don't have to absolutely max it out to get there.

I have taken animals past 800 yards with the 127LRX and had no blood trail. Two elk just just over 400 yards, one quartering towards went in the shoulder and out the ribs, no blood. The other exact opposite, in the back ribs and out the shoulder, pencil hole exit with no blood. I think you will be closer to your target velocity and have better performance with the Hammer.
As far as Reloder 26 temp stability it shoots up fast after ~84F but below that it is very stable. We can hunt pigs here in CA year round and it get well over 100F a big part of summer, during those months I don't shoot the RL 26 or RL 33 loads.
My all season powders are H4350, H1000, and Retumbo.

The 3200 fps was just a number to aim at reality shows around 3050. I reload with h4350 now i was curious to get some input on what powder might be a bit faster. I will look for the most accurate load but i also want velocity. I know there are better calibers out there like the 6.5 prc and i have thought about building one but not 100% sold on it yet

If you are set on a short action look at the 6.5 Sherman,
6.5 SAUM, or 6.5 WSM, I think all of these will hit 3,200 with H1000

for over 3000 fps, a magnum may be better suited to your needs.... just sayin'

If you are building another one, then I would go with a different cartridge than the 6.5 CM. There are several good suggestions above (and several other 6.5s) that will get you the performance you are looking for.

One problem with RL26 and the 6.5 CM is to get those 2900 FPS plus speeds, you will more than likely have so much powder in the case that you will start crushing it when seating the bullet. This can cause various issues like high runout when seating the bullet, and even higher ES and SD. This is most likely why you don't hear of too may shooters who say that 2950 ~ 3000 FPS with RL26 is their most accurate load. They will say it is their fastest though.
I agree that moving to a larger case like the 6.5 PRC is a better path. Or even the 6.5-284 in a long action.
