Looking to buy a new scope for my .22 LR. I want second focal, moa, variable power to 15, tactical knobs, zero stop, around $500. I would like to shoot out to 300 yards. What do you all suggest?

Which ever one you go with, be darned sure to use a 20 to 25 MOA scope rail! Not many scopes have enough comeups for a .22 at 300 yds. I have a Vortex Viper 6x24x50 with a 25 rail on a CZ 455 and it ain't quite enough with sub sonic ammo. But boy is it accurate at 300! Vortex is bringing out a new model, MOA with FFP ! I've heard $300. Ought to check it out.

You need 42 Moa of available travel to shoot 300 yards.
You find out how well your scope tracks when you're dialing that much. That was my concern with choosing a scope. Down the road I might put my sightron stac on it

SWFA SS 3-15×42. Can be had in SFP. Bulletproof, tracks great, good turrets, good reticle w. floating dot center, MIL or MOA, can get a zero stop kit for it, good glass.

I would highly recommend this scope, as I have 2 of them myself...One Mil-Quad, one Mil-Quad DM reticle version. However, I don't think they make them anymore... I think the only 3-15's they offer now are FFP scopes... And they're about $699... Personally, I am not a fan of FFP scopes, as I own a rangefinder...But I think there was still plenty of market room for SWFA to have kept the SFP version as well.

I would love it if they released the exact same 3-15 SFP scopes, but in a 50mm objective. I would love to see a 5-20x or 6-24x version, as well, and also with the same Mil-Quad & Mil-Quad DM reticle in SFP that they used to offer.

You'd be better off just picking something up like a VX3 leupold in 3-9x50. Personally I just put VX1 4x's on my .22LR's which is plenty for the ranges i shoot.

To get a quality scope with the features you are talking about you're going to have to spend twice as much and have a whole lot more scope than you'll ever need.

Even as a kid shooting prairie dogs with a .22lr it was all done open sight or with a 4x Leopold once they got smarter. 4x is all I need to shoot the heads off of turtles at up to 200 yds.
