So I started yesterday wanting to clean up a bit and get my new bench set up.
You could say I ran into a snag.
I hate spending Saturdays in the ER.

The arrow is pointing at the other end of the splinter.

Edited due to graphic content. Sorry about that.

Nothing exciting, just picking up old bunk bed boards so I could sweep the floor. Stood up 2x6 and slid hands down to get a better grip to pick up. Doc found it helpful to see pic of the missing piece. Going to see a surgeon this week because we are missing 1/2" of the tip.

I didn't wince initially. But now I am, thinking about retrieving that missing 1/2" length of splinter.
Hope it's a quick find, and hope they manage the pain they'll cause in the process of getting it out.

Now I'm motivated to buy some leather gloves!

Gotta check outta this thread because the wincing is now too much!
Good luck & hope you're now on the mend with all of it removed. That really sucks, big time.

Thanks for the concern guys. To be honest the pain is not as bad as it should be, nothing a tylenol can't fix. Besides my grip being weak I'm back to work. Curious what the hand doc will say this week.
Kinda just a reminder how something so routine can turn sideways.
Be safe out there.

Now, why did you go and post that photo? I forgot all about doing that several years ago. I was working in a furniture plant. It went all the way through. I extracted it. Cleaned up the blood and glued the piece back on.

I don't remember about my hand. It must have healed.

Reminds me of a time I was using a shovel to chop the stem of a burdock picker bush years back. I hit the stem a few times to cut it, some debris shook off, the stiff wind picked it up and into the eye a sliver went. I later tried the ER, then after a few days the Optometrist found and removed the small piece.

Stuff happens, I guess gloves next time.
