That's interesting. Kind of makes a 7mm creed pointless. I guess coal maxes out with the 6.5 caliber for a SA

That was my first thought about the original Creed, why not use a .260?

Lol, probably because too many of us are attached to 700 SA, but I've never owned a 260 so can't say for sure
You know how it is-

it's the 338 version of a blackout It's intended to shoot heavy-for-caliber, sub-sonic loads from an AR platform. The barrel has an unusually fast twist to accomplish this, which means you sacrifice optimal velocity of normal weight bullets, fired supersonic.
If you're not an assassin with a need to shoot long, heavy bullets with relatively little noise, the 8.6 Creedmoor is just a specialized target rifle. Where the 6.5 CM is a very good option for a sporting/hunting rifle, the 8.6 CM looks (to me) like a wind-shield wiper on a duck's a**.

This may be marketing genius! How can you go wrong by taking all things good in this world and combining them into one?
-For starters it's a .338 ...enough said!
-In the greatest cartridge to ever exist!
-And based on the design / concept of the Blackout!
All they need now is to have a great American endorse it. You know maybe an ex-fighter pilot (could come with a cool sun visor for your truck), or an ex-Army Ranger/Government contractor and you get a free pair of tactical sunglasses...just pay separate handling fee.

Good to see so many wise people questioning the flavor of the month. Nothing wrong with these "innovations", if they inspire folks with disposable income to support the awesome people who work in the firearms industry. These new loadings seem frequently to emphasize their subsonic potential. Well, let's make suppressors affordable AND obtainable. THEN sell me a renamed "Whisper" round. It's just that, well, I'm cynical. I distrust the screaming frenzy, whether it was Elvis, or the Beatles, or anything else. I believe the more valid trend is that of taking existing, proven chamberings and making them available to the rest of us in accurate, affordable rifles. If you genuinely are a long distance hunter, or you frequently shoot suppressed, or if you can put one up a gnat's *** at 1000 yards, or any other specialized shooting genre, then these advances are awesome! Otherwise it's just rearranging chairs on a sinking ship. JMHO

Here are my two favorite wildcats. They almost go the speed of light and with a 1/1000 twist they don't fragment. It was hard to neck down the 50 cal brass, but man was it ever worth it....

Seriously, I love that people are doing all this work on new ammo, but I personally just can't keep up. Eventually I feel it will be counter productive to continue to develop a new round just to make a new round. I don't plan to jump on any band wagons but at the same time I am fine with people developing any cartridge they want to make. I just wish I had time to fully develop all the rounds I currently shoot.

Add "Creedmoor" to those, and they will sell like crazy......you could just watch the CM Stiffies get a little larger. I have to give Hornady credit though, as far as selling firearm products their promotion team NAILED the Creedmoor.............and with accurate factory ammo backing it, it has become invincible in the eyes of the hordes......try convince one that a 260 will do the same thing.
