Dilemma with 264WM scope options!

Hi all,
I have just ordered a new Win Model 70 EW 264WM and I am having a huge dilemma.
I plan on still/stalking/glassing with this rifle. There will most likely be more sit and wait than anything else and I don't know what scope to get.
I am tossing up between a Bushnell Elite 4500 3-9x40 DOA 600, the same in a 3500 or a 6500 2.5-16x40 DOA 600. The Leopold vx-6HD 2-12x42 is also in my sights.
As I predict that few shots beyond 400 will present themselves, I feel I want a nice compact scope without too much magnification.
My problem is that I cannot decide what one to get or whether to go bigger on scope.

I already have a dedicated LR rifle in 264WM, a Sendero based custom with high mag scope.

HELP!!

Please help me choose a SUITABLE scope for the above parameters.

If you are 400 yards and in, I can't imagine why a 3X9 wouldn't work for you and keep your rifle light?

I have ageing eyes, so in your dilemma I'd probably be on the higher mag Leupold.

I'd look at a 3-9 Super Sniper or maybe the 3-15, just in case you want to go beyond 400. But the Bushnell's would do just fine. I would go with the bigger option as it will do up cose and you can go longer if needed.

Of the ones you listed I would take the 2 1/2-16X. Inside it are all the others.

Do Bushnell still make the models you have listed?

I put a leupold vx-6 3x18x50 sf On my new win ew 264

I would pick a scope in the 3
2.5-16x to 2.5-25x range. No use limiting a cartridge capable of long shots by putting a cheap 3-9×40 scope on it.

If your just going to be getting a sit and wait rifle I wouldn't worry about weight and seriously take a look at the Vortex PST Gen II in the classifieds. Excellent glass, great price and plenty of magnification. You wont have any regrets. If your hiking a lot I would look into a lighter scope. I use Leupold on all my rifles as I hike a lot and don't want to carry around extra weight. If I was planning on doing a sit and shoot I would personally buy a Vortex PST Gen II as they offer a lot for the $$. Especially the one for sale in the classifieds right now. I do not have any field experience with the Gen II series, but I used to own nothing but Vortex scopes before moving to leupold. I dumped them as their low light performance was really bad compared to other scope brands and I got tired of their weight when hiking. I have looked through many of the Gen II PST series scopes and they are MUCH better in every way. Much better eye relief, WAY better glass etc.

I have a Bushnell 6500 Elite on my Winchester M70 in 308. It's a lot of scope for the money. I've taken antelope with it out to 560 yards.

Burris veracity 3-15x ur not limited on the low or high end.
I have a 2-10x wish I would've gone with the 3-15 but it's a nice scope

Yes, I have spent the last week pouring over websites trying to decide which/what scope and magnification.

All info so far is great, I have many Leupold and Bushnell scopes, the Bushnells are all lighter than their equivalent magnification in the Leupolds. This however is not going to limit me to just a Bushnell.

Unfortunately, what prices you guys in the US pay is 2.5 times less than what I pay here. A $300 scope there, is a $700+ scope here.

I am limited to $800 for glass on this rifle, can't afford anymore than that and would like to spend a little less if I can.
The weight is also a limiting factor since I have had nerve damage to my right shoulder and wrist.

Magnum have you looked at any of the Meopta scopes? I have a couple of the Meopros and the glass in them is very good. I have the same issue here in NZ with the US price compared to our price.

Hmm, that low of a budget you might be looking at an Athlon midas BTR, unless you need FFP. Good optic for the price. If you need FFP look into the athlon argos btr.

I am still looking, the 6500 in 2 1/2-16 is looking like what I will go with........ still unsure, however.

I will look at the Meopta later next week in the shop.
Always prefer to actually look through the glass personally.

It's a pity I can't just buy one off this site, but they don't export apparently.
