I'm curious... I have never had an issue w McMillan and I recently ordered my first Manners stock (EH1A). I want to either confirm or write off my current experience as a one off.

I grabbed a stock that was already in process — canceled by another customer. I was told it should take 6-8 weeks and placed the order on March 5. In mid May I started calling and each time they told me it was in finishing and would be there for a week or two. I kept having to call them every two or three weeks as they would not respond to email. On Friday, July 20 (roughly 20 weeks later) I got an email that the stock was finished. As you might expect the stock is for a hunting rifle I had planned to use this year.

Is this par for course with Manners or am I just the unlucky guy?

Thanks!

I have purchased four stocks from them and have a buddy that ordered one. They were all on time but one was inletted correctly. They had not problem trying to remedying the wrong stock but I was out of time and went a different direction. I had another buddy order a McMillan and after several attempts to get the inlet corrected on it he sent it to a gunsmith who corrected the problem which cost him more money. It is my opinion that they both make great stocks and mistakes.

I am currently in a similar experience. I ordered one of their stocks that was in the online store for my rem 700 7mm rem mag xcr II. It was an EH6. It was inletted for a factory mountain barrel well my 7mm is a magnum sporter barrel. It was my fault I didn't pay attention to the details. So I shipped it back (at my expense) asking for a refund. When the received the stock they called me and asked me what was wrong with it. I told them that I made a mistake on ordering the wrong contour. They basically said ok no problem.

Well the next day I got a call from Tom Manners himself asking the same thing and I explained to him the same thing. Then he asked If I was interested in shipping in my barreled action and they would fit the stock, bed it, and float the barrel at no cost. I was almost awestruck. I said yes I would for sure but I asked how long it would take because I need it this fall for elk hunting. He said he would do all the work himself and have it back to me in a couple weeks. Well its been over a month now and I haven't heard anything. But I'm not to worried I'm sure he is a very busy man. As long as I get it before September I will be happy.

Tom was preparing for and participating in the King of Two Miles shoot during the end of June and the first part of July so I'll probably guess that he is pretty far behind. I would call or e-mail him to see where the project sits now.

Large, super busy companies can often drop the ball on small details or get behind with general production due to any number of unforeseen incidents. We all think that we are the center of the known universe and take problems such as these very personally then castigate the manufacturer as if it was done on purpose. I know Tom and Kelly through doing business with them on a larger scale for many years. They are good men who sometimes get too busy or have an employee who drops the ball in a rare instance. Maybe an important cog in the system got called away or came down sick, it happens and then something can go wrong. Give 'em a break and call or e-mail for information. They will all work with you to rectify problems.

I wasn't complaining I can imagine how busy he is. I didn't expect to get it back in 2 weeks. Like I said as long as I get it back by September I don't care. I was very impressed with the customer service. I will definitely buy more manners stocks.

I ordered a flat top stock and had them.inlet it to my specs. Was told 4-6 weeks. 5 weeks later, it was in my hands.

I have 3 Manners stocks. Will be ordering a 4th soon.

I had multiple, promised ship dates come and go with them. This was very, very recent. June/July 2018. Stock shipped without the Atlas rail (it did have the screw holes). They got it out right away, once I let them know. Rail will be here tomorrow. The stock was in "finishing" for 10-11 weeks. 4-6 weeks is the advertised lead time, once it reaches finishing.

My brother had a much worse experience with them. His was more around the May/June 2018 time frame. Actually, started back in February/March but that's too long of a story.

I do really like the new stock. It turned out perfect. I'll keep ordering their products but I'll just plan on adding extra lead time to what ever estimate they give me.

In Jan 2016 I ordered a stock for a lightweight custom hunting rifle. I ordered it 100% Carbon and was quoted May delivery. In July the stock showed up at my gunsmith.

Couple days later my gunsmith calls and says its a standard shell, not 100% carbon.

I called Manners and they apologized and said they would rush a new one out. Late August rolls around, I call to find out because its time for my rifle to get some rounds put through it. The lady says they have no rebuild ordered for me and had no explanation as to why a new one wasn't ordered for me and apologized.

I asked what my options were and was told they can either get one out to me (No timeline offered) or they could refund me the $75 different from going from a 100% carbon to a standard shell. Both options were ****. I said refund my $75, which they did.

I ran out of time and it wasn't what I wanted. I'll never buy another Manners because of my **** experience. They do make the best stocks on the planet in my opinion, but never again.

Jeremy

Gentlemen,

I appreciate the feedback. As I expect Manners has a solid repolutation with some opportunity to grow. I hope Tom or someone from Manners will take this feedback as constructive.

Ordered my mcs-t in early February, finally shipped last week. You're at the mercy of which models are being run. Some are more frequent than others.
