Christensen Rifle....#2?

Just took a pic of my Savage 110. Hmmm. Quite the difference

I am beyond upset. I have a moose hunt coming up in September. It's a pretty big deal for me. I thought a few months to get a load developed for his rifle would be adequate. I haven't even made it past putting around in the chamber. Unreal

I bet there's something else in the closet that can deflate that bull moose....
Where did you draw....

The hunt is up in Alaska. I wish I had something else in the closet. Next size caliber is 6.5x284....and I'm sure it would kill a bull, but I would much prefer taking the Ultra Mag.

Maybe get together with the "Hammer" builder and put a 65 bullet to test...obviously you aren't going solo...so a larger backup rifle should be in capable hands......very close....

Several years ago, the first I heard of Christianson Arms, it was in a local gunsmith's shop. He was trying to fix the new rifle for a customer who was going on a hunt and didn't have time to send it back to the factory. I don't recall what the problem was, but the rifle was not usable or reliable.

That's not good. What's bad about all this is that I don't have a local dealer. I have to drive 100 and some miles just to take the gun back-and-forth. Minimum of a 250 mile round-trip. Then I have to wait a week or so for the rifle to arrive at Christensen. Then I have to wait for them to send one back. Then I have to drive the 250 mile trip, and start all over to see if thing even loads a round.

Talk to Steve at hammer bullets and get set up on one of his bullets in ur 6.5. He took a 257wby with their bullets to Africa and shot an 1800lb eland with it. The proper bullet with proper shot placement will get it done

I am positive that the hammer bullets and that 6.5 would do the trick....and appreciate all the help and advice too. Im just not sure I'm comfortable going with a caliber that small. I've seen marginal shots with smaller calibers resulting in lost moose or very difficult to find up there. Those willows are thick and those moose can go for miles. Especially in heavy bear country. I've seen marginal shots with 30 caliber and up which usually still end up in a relatively quick kill. Not always though. Anything can happen... and my plan actually was to buy the 180 grain hammer bullets for this rifle too.

You dont have to take the gun to the dealer to ship. Call CA and they will email a pre paid shipping label and you can take it to UPS and if you choose to get another gun from them they can ship it to you. I had a ridgeline back to them last year

Thanks. I didn't know that. Almost everyone I've heard of that's had a Christensen has sent it back for some
Reason or another. I think I'm done with them. :(

If it were me and I was really worried, as it sounds like you rightly are, I would look at a Cooper in stock somewhere and get CA to refund the rifle. Or even a Nosler, which is gauranteed MOA with their factory ammo. I am sure the 6.5 would kill the moose, but the last thing you want is any doubt in your mind, which it sounds like you have. Confidence is everything, and being nervous on a hunt sucks.

You bought the rifle for a reason and it sounds like it is this trip. Call CA and raise hell.

To take advantage of the 300 rum. With heavier bullets you really need a 4" mag. Box. And of course the proper freebore.

Thanks. The whole reason I bought the Christiansen is because It's light weight... and I didn't think I could build a gun with a carbon barrel that cheap. I figured if I took a Remington action, Proof barrel, Trigger, stock, break, and some gunsmithing, I would have been well beyond that $2000 mark. Now in hindsight, I wish I would've just taken my 700 action and did just that. And I would be willing to bet Christianson arms is not going to send me a check. They're probably going to make me take it back to where I bought it from again, and then have them refund me the money which means the store who sold me it are out that money as well as the Titanium break. What a joke this is.
