QUARTER BORE SST??

Bullet placement in the neck in conjunction with the desired or maximun coal. I usually seat the bullet .020" or more up into the neck if other tolerances allow it.

Has anyone sent a 131 Blackjack bullet yet? I can't get a reamer started until I have one......thx

I used the info from Blackjack's reamers to get an idea for mine. Their 25x47 and 25 Creedmoor are designed around a 2.880" COAL and have .130" freebore for the Lapua reamer and .115" for the Creedmoor.

So assuming tolerances allow the bullet seated up into the neck .02" will the chamber be throated that the bullet can touch the lands at that distance? I'm just curious is all and thanks for taking the time to answer me

Yes, but it's not always .020", it depends on the particular bullet and application.

Personally I would wait to get the actual bullet in hand and check before having a reamer cut vs going off others reamers and their idea of ideal seating. Shrug

If I were designing reamer around one specific bullet I'd probably do that too. I'd never build a gun around a specific bullet though, especially a new and unproven one.

with the SS case the long necked BJ bullet set to max mag coal could very lwell work with shorter neck bullets at shorter coal. With the case neck I think, like the 6.5, you have room to move the bullets around and not seriously jam the powder column to determent of good vel unless they are heavy weights with long bodies and sharp short ogive necks. Look what those 160s in the 6.5 could do.

I got a wild idea today and thought of an early way to figure out what the 130 Blackjack would max out at. I have a 6.5 sst that is only .007" larger bore so I figured the 130 eldm's I had sitting around should come close. I had predicted that the 25 SST would make 3300' with the Blacjack? Well, this was a pretty stiff load that I wouldn't run everyday, but I think a legitimate 3300' should be there.

Don't ask me what the pressure was, but the primer pocket stayed snug and the bolt lift wasn't too bad.
