Curious on speeds 6.5-284

Running the 147gn ELD-M's through 28" Lothar Walther barrel, .010" off LaG, ahead of 56.5gn of Retumbo, Norma brass and BR2's. Getting average of 3017fps with ES of 14 / SD of 7. Accuracy is running in the .3-.4's.
I also tried this bullet ahead of RL-26, but ran out. I found it to be capable of much more speed but was inconsistent for me. By that I mean, I initially loaded it and got good accuracy/speed. Picked it back up 2 weeks later in identical weather conditions, same lots or everthing and ran in to pressure immediately with heavy bolt lifts, ejector marks on case and accuracy wasn't as good. I had less than 20 rounds down the tube so I know it wasn't spotless but this barrel is super smooth and fouls little to none.
I may try RL-26 in my 6.5/284 again, later, but for now I'll stick with Retumbo for it and RL26 for my .300WinMag and the 212gn ELD-X. JohnnyK.

I had similar experiences with R26 in two of my 6.5x284's. Good accuracy, speeds/ES but inconsistency on different days. Temps were 55-75F.

I'm at 53.7gr 4831sc, Lapua Brass, cci200 primer and 147 eld-m@ 2926fps. Got a Muley at 553yds 1 and done last year.

For some reason the 147s are cheaper and they shot way better out of my rifle.

Does anybody have any ideas why I am running into pressure with the 147 eldm with only 55.4 grains of retumbo? I am using lapua brass, federal 210m primers, and the bullet is seated .015 off the lands. I get slight ejector marks on each piece of fired brass. I tried some RL26 today and it shot best with 54 grains, but had more severe ejector marks. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you checked the throat/leade in your chamber? Gunsmiths and makers have been known to take liberties with this measurement. I have run into some that are as much as .150" shorter then the proper Norma spec and this can surely effect velocity. Also, it's quite common for some barrels to pick up as much as 50-100FPS after the first 50-200 rounds.

I have a 28" Proof Research, 1-8 barrel, screwed into Mausingfield LA. I hit an accuracy node around 3150fps using RL 26, Mag primers and Berger 140 HVLD. No pressure signs. Good ES.

I Have a node on the same rifle, RL26, Mag primers, shooting Sierra 150 @ 3080fps. Again no pressure signs.

I did a string with Reloader 23 from 51gr-54gr and had slight pressure signs at 53.8 but had flat spots in velocity at 52.1 and 53.1

The three I have reloaded for were around 2940 with around 57 grains of Retumbo in 26" barrels with 140 Bergers.

The chamber checks out. My smith also has a ton of experience with the cartridge. The barrel is just starting to speed up. Could this just be due to the new brass?

Have you ever seen ejector marks in your rifles?
Yes, I have seen ejector marks, but at max loads. 58-59gr Retumbo with magnum primers. No issues at 58gr and LR primers with 140-143gr bullets. Depending on my particular rifle, velocities run in the 3050 range. I prefer my loads run at 2975-3000FPS in my hunters. Excellent LR accuracy and SD.
