March 2.5x25x52mm SFP scopes?

I wish march would just offer a more traditional range of power in their scopes. I like to use my scopes either on minimum or max power. 3-12, 4-16 are my preferred ranges. 25X is too much and probably works best as a FFP scope. trying to get FFP to work well on 2.5x is going to suck.

cummins cowboy,

We need a dislike button.:) I love the wide range and can't stand FFP. Maybe I just never used a good one. But I've fooled with a couple and decided against them.
few people dislike FFP more than I do, no need for a dislike button. I rant about FFP and how much I think it sucks. The solution to the FFP vs SFP is use a scope with LESS power and get it in SFP.

The reason I struggle with a 2.5-25 is YES there are going to be times your going to want to make a shot on less than max power. you may dial down for mirage or simply just not want that much power. hence the argument for FFP. for me and my uses a scope that goes to 25x is only suitable for maybe prairie dogs or load development. for long range hunting. 15x max is plenty. You simply just don't need more scope than that for long range hunting. That is why I have never purchased a march. its just too much of a power range for me.

I know we are all different in what we like, but help me understand if a scope has 2.5-25x power and you only want to use 15x power or 10x or what ever you decide why not have a scope that you can turn up to 25x just in case you ever need it? The turret still dials to your moa needs as long as your using the center cross hair and it you need to use the lines dial to 10x (4moa) or 20x(2moa) and go being a SFP scope. I know the scope above has the cross hair only.

the reason for me is 25x is going to be just too darn much power unless I am shooting from a bench. and off a bench I don't need that great of power range. if you using a plain duplex I think your argument carries more weight. I suppose it just matters what the intended use of the scope is. I like my sub tensions to be correct on max power. not anything in between. For me my scope sits mostly on low power, I want to quickly max it out and hit high power and use the features of the reticle for a long range shot if I am needing more than minimum scope power.

At least three time, twice using binoculars and once using naked eyes, I found something I could not discern if it was legal or not until the scope was turned up. Once I needed 10X (no binos), another time I needed 12X(8X binos) and another time I needed 25X (8X binos). Give a my 4 1/2-30X50 until I can afford a March!:)

The time on 12X was happening so quickly I almost didn't get the shot. The 10X I was still hunting and the 25X I was hiking and glassing. I realized I'm not going to use them, even at the range.

I used to have a very nice Kowa and a decent Bushnell. I sold the Kowa and gave the other to Son John.

The March 2.5-25x52 is in a class of its own. Nothing in that weight range comes close on capability. Its about perfect. The 10x zoom does stress the glass capabilities a little and the parallax adjustment is picky.

My March 2.5x25x52 SFP mounted on my light chassis 6.5x284 hunting rifle. Perfect size and weight for this set-up.

I've been considering one of these scopes. The weight and range of power makes them appear to be a hunters dream scope. If I understand correctly they have a 5 year warranty. Is this any reason for concern?

The first March I purchased was badly damaged due to a very bad set of rings, long story. This was no fault of March but they repaired the scope and only charged me for the parts required. They even paid for the scope to be returned from Japan to NZ. I doubt you are going to need any warranty and I am convince that lifetime warranties that others offer are built into the price. So the choice is do you want to buy a great scope or buy a lifetime warranty?
