Powder for 6.5 PRC ? Where to start?

I have a 6.5 PRC on the way but I need to find a place to start for reloading with this puppy. I checked Hodgdon and they don't even show that caliber on their reloading data web site. I thought it would be close to 6.5 x 284 and the only load they show was for H4350. I have that but their must be other powders people are using. I want to stay with Hodgdon though, with the temp stability. Im thinking of calling Hornandy directly since they are really pushing the PRC.

Any recipes you want to share would be appreciated.

RL26 would be my first choice.

I've loaded some 143gr ELDX and R26 but haven't got to the range yet to try them out

Rl 23, h 4831ssc would be my choice. Rl 26 is to temp sensitive

4831 was also recommended by the seller. I see H1000 is also on the Hornandy list. I have a bunch of that and a little Retumbo. Will pick up some 4831 and that should be a good starting point.

I am going to start with Retumbo, 'cause I already have a bunch for the 264 mag...

Mine settled in at 57.7gr Retumbo with the 143 ELD-X at 3020. Wide node at that powder charge. Retumbo working great for me in the PRC

Makes sense. I would use that for my old 6.5x284

Let us know how it goes, I also have a 6.5 PRC in the way and will reload the H 143's with H1000, H4831 or whatever good powder some one suggest.

H1000 is the powder that tested best for me in a 22" barrel with 156 EOL's
