Who hunts with a 12+lb rifle?

Id rather lug and extra pound of rifle and optics than an extra pound of worthless junk in my pack!! 11 pound rifles aren't that bad out here most of the time its strapped to my pack for the DIG then off it comes when im ready to send it!! I have a couple 15.5 pounders in the 375 CT flavor for those extra special spots!!!!

same here, its strapped across my chest until I settle in a spot, and then its rock-n-roll time! (and maybe I over guessed a bit on my rucksack, probably more like 25 pounds, not 40 lol)

At the moment, I happen to be trying out one of the Swagger bipods out. Anyone else have any experience with these? I'm on the fence myself & can see why some have dogged it. But I figured I'd give it an honest try my self because it looked like it would fit the style of hunting I do.

Haven't used one, but would be interested in hearing your final thoughts on it.

Had a 5 1/2 lb 300 RUM built about 1995 for fly in 2 week backpack sheep hunts. Total weight 7 - 7 1/2 lb. Recent builds for mountain hunting in Alaska or Asia have followed these same guidelines. Shooting a light rifle requires more practice time but for me it is worth it. It has been my experience that once a mountain hunter uses a light rifle accurately they rarely (if ever) go back to carrying a log.

Wow yeah mine is 1/2 that weight but not as accurate as I could be due to the physical mass of it (or lack thereof)
