Some new brass on the market

Like I said we're getting gouged on hard to find calibers, and don't tell me it's because brass shortages etc...
common calibers are still readily available and affordable,
as long as people keep paying inflated prices for it's not going to get better.
 
I don't think it is shortages that is the problem. I think it is the raw material that went up. a friend just got well over $2.00 for scrap weight on brass
 
Just rec. Bertram 28 Nos. brass- fast shipping I ordered Thurs night!
I weighed 20 of them and all were within 1 gr. of each other
They weigh 20 gr. less than Nosler brass
They hold 2.9 gr. more water than Nos. brass
going to load some this week and see how they shoot
 
Thanks for sharing, in the past Bertram has had less volume than other brands. With formed cases the 338 EDGE brass I have is 3gr less h20 than REM brass and the case weight variance was a little larger. Although the brass I have was bought several years ago. I'm hoping the consistency has improved in recent years and shooters will have another option for quality brass in popular magnums and sought after cartridges that have been hard to find in past years. A good example of that is 28 nosler brass is nowhere to be found now because nosler is the only one manufacting it until now.

Bertram may very well have shown some signs of subtle improvements occasionally but for the vast majority of their production components lines, they are not worth what they charge.



This is from my original statement last night and I stand by it since I've seen dozens of these discussion before. It boils down to those who apparently want to like and support the product and those who do not like it and will not support it. There's no gray area in between. So this is where we stand now, divided in our choice. Everyone is entitled to their own choices and ideas. I was simply trying to add my experiences from 25 years of testing for the production of dozens and dozens of wildcats and modified cases. If it doesn't fit your viewpoint, simply push it aside and move on.;)

Again, you've thumped your chest and restated your opinion. However, you have yet to say exactly what the problems were that you encountered except to say that they are expensive.

If you don't state some objective facts you simply sound like a desgruntled customer with an unsubstantiated axe to grind.
 
I'm with sable-tireur. If Bertram brass is so good why are precision rifle shooters not using it?

Because precision rifle shooters are competing with 6mms and 6.5s. If you look at Bertram's site they don't make brass for popular competition cartridges. Why would they? That niche is already filled. They have realeased brass for magnum cartridges that have been hard to get brass for. Yea the .284 win, 7saum&wsm, and 300 WSM are used in f class and 1000yard br matches. But then again you can't judge whether it's good or bad because you don't see it at matches when it was only released to vendors around a week ago.

Maybe you got a different lot than I did, but the 200 pieces I weighed were well outside of this spectrum for weight.

I ran them through a mandrel and trimmed them before I weighed
them and I only did 20. Are yours 28 Nosler? If so pm me I know a few guys looking for some if you want to sell.

I tested some 7 Saum a year or so ago and found it to be very tough. At the same time, it had 1 1/2 grains more capacity than Norma. I did not do any further testing, but was impressed with those results.....rich
 
So, if Hornady is making good brass for 6 & 6.5mm, does that mean their 300 RUM brass is inferior? I don't get the logic.

Hornady brass probably isn't the brass he is referring to.
It would be my last choice for the comp cartridges.
 
It looks like the price is comparable to Norma at least for 270 WSM. I have a good supply of brass for now but I would like to hear more real reasons why people like or dislike a certain brand of brass, especially recently manufactured brass.
