Reloader 26 in 6.5 creedmoor

Using the same load on my 2 rifles, I don't see a significant decrease in MV going from 28" to 18". My 28" rifle shoots Hornady 143gr ELD-X @ low 2900fps and my 18" rifle using the exact same load launches them @ 2800 fps. 100fps loss for 10" of barrel is not bad. I don't think its a very sensitive cartridge when it comes to barrel length when using the heavy bullets.

When using the 123gr sst I had to change the powder from RL-17 to Varget to get good MV on the short barrel. I launch the SST @2988 fps from the short barreled rifle using Varget. When using RL-17 I can´t get past 2900fps

When you went to the 18" did you install a suppressor?

My 26" launches 143 ELD-X @ 3000 fps my 24" launches the exact same load @ 2944 fps. The 6.5 CM is an over bore it likes barrel length, I am pretty confident I could get 3050 fps out of a 28" barrel.

Made some more tests with RL-26 yesterday. I believe this is 6.5-284 territory
6.5 Creedmoor
Hornady ELD-M 147gr
Temp was in the high 90s with humidity around 45%
No pressure signs, just slightly flattened primers.

Not if you use Reloder 26 in a 6.5x284.... ha ha!! Still outstanding performance!! That is about what you will get with H-4831sc in a 6.5x284. You will get well over 3000 fps with Reloder 26 and the 147 in a 6.5x284.

That is true, with a given powder the 6.5X284 is capable of 100 fps more out of a bullet than the 6.5 CM. But I find the majority of the 6.5X284 shooters don't use RL26 and tend to load in the mid 2900 fps with 147's. Then they tell me I can't get 2930 fps without going way over pressure with my CM.

I concur. Reloder 26 is a game changer in these size cartridges. I was able to reach 3150 fps with a 140 VLD in my .260 AI without any signs of over pressure, while I pressured out at 3000 fps with H4831. I'm certain you could get 3150 or more from the same length barrel 6.5x284, but it just so happened that my best accuracy was at 3070, so that load is what I used for a long time. But you throw H4831 or H4350 in a 6.5 creed, and you won't see the velocities you will get with RL 26. With optimal, highest efficiency new powders in a 6.5 creed, you will do what a 6.5x284 does with your old, average powders. Which is to be expected, the 6.5x284 has a much higher powder capacity. When comparing apples to apples, again as to be expected, there is a significant difference.

Working up 140 Noslers...

Nice seeing facts...

Working up with no pressure signs with 150 SMKs using RL26 6.5-284 28" barrel...

140 Noslers with RL26...
