Been hunting and trapping coyote sence the early 80s. Would have been doing it longer if we had them. They didn't show up in my neck of the woods in west TN. till then. Would rather hunt them than deer. while deer hunting I never pass up a coyote. Unless I am looking at a big buck. I always carry a varmint call just in case I spot a coyote. My first coyote I ever called was shot with a 36cal, Flintlock muzzleloader, while squirrel hunting. I wasn't seeing any squirrels and started blowing my varmint call to see if a fox or bobcat would show up. I blew it twice and there he was 30 yards away. I put the 36 round ball right behind the shoulder and he fell over and never kicked. I have shot them with Muzzleloaders, 22 rimfires,22 mag, 22 hornet, 223, 220 swift, 25-06, 1911 45acp and 10g shotgun. Hunting coyote's is more fun than getting dirty.:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Here in east central KS (cattle country) we have plenty of coyotes. I took my first one with an 03A3 in 1991. Since then I have taken them with 222, 223, 30 Herrett Contender, and my latest coyote gun; a scoped 30 Carbine Ruger Blackhawk. like you, I rarely pass up a coyote.

Tnwhip and damienph.

Yup, coyotes are were you find them. My electronic call works fairly well to
entice them in range. I usually shoot them with what ever I'm packing at
the time, Bow, Rifle, shotgun or pistol.

Hi, therontexan,
You bet your boots I do. I only have to go about a mile and a half,to be in the middle of the yowlers.
I set up my Primos Turbo dawg and decoy about 20 yards out. Use the locater and then the field mouse. Keep a sharp eye out and it's not long and the bushy tail is on his way.
I do use a GPS Rino 655t with the Oregon Hunt Map. It's nice not to worry about being on
private property.
