so,

I own a 300 wby blaser R8 with a 26 inch barrel which unfortunately has a 1 in 11" twist. I would like to strech the legs of this rifle out but I am not sure how heavy bullets I can use which would still be stabilized with this medium twist barrel. I am (unfortunately) in Minnesota at about 1000' elevation and often use the rifle in cold weather, which shiuld also adversely effect bullet stability.
Anyone has a rifle with a similar barrel lenght and twist who used some of the heavier bullets? What are your experiences
Thank you for your insight, Ferenc

By all means try some 190 Hornadys or some 190 Sierra match kings ,have you seen the small sample packs with like 10 bullets to try , I forget their name, also try some Sierra 200 grain boatails ,years ago a good friend had your same rifle in a earlier model ,boy that rifle shot Exellent weather it was target shooting or hunting ,so congrats on your Beautiful rifle ,& regards .

I have a 11.25 twist 308, I've shot 200 eldx out of it and grouped like .3moa at 100 yds. No idea how they'll do further out with decreased stability. I'm at 2500feet
In my 300(10twist) I use 212 eldx at 2825 fps or 200 eldx at 2990fps. I run out of magazine room with the big 212s and have to use the lower node.
You will just have to try them and see what happens

210 Berger VLD and 215 Berger Hybrid......all work great in ALL of my 11 twist 30 cal's. out to as far as I can shoot. Plus I brought home a full cord of wood trophies in 1000 yard BR with those combos!!

When checking out the 215 Hybrid on the Berger twist rate calculator it says I would have an SG of 1.35 and would be marginally stable out of an 11 twist, recommends a 10.3 twist.
My rifle shoots the 210 VLD's pretty good at 3250 fps out of my Lilja 11 twist, might have to try the 215 now seeing you state they shoot good out of your 11 twist.
What velocity and elevation are you shooting at?

I shoot a rock creek 10.92 in 300NM 230 Berger Hybrid target @2900-3000fps at 1100ASL all day long. yeah the book laughs at it but im shooting "real world" 1 1/4: 300yds and run them out lots farther....

and also shot 208Amax,210,215 berger 230OTM just fine but not as good as i am now.

1000 - 1500 feet at around 2950 to 3050 FPS...depending on the tube.
