I purchased a semi custom 280ai that is unfired and im wondering if I could get some info for loading. what loads are working best.
Remington blue printed action
Krieger barrel 26'' 1in 9 twist
i have nosler brass in 280ai
also came with reding s type dies cut to match the chamber.
thx in advance.

I've found H4831sc and 168gr NALR bullets work exceptionally well in my 280AI, just put together another 280AI and gonna give the h4831sc and 150gr berger hunter classics a go and see how they do.

How much of the 4831 are you using with the 168's?

Our pet load for the 280ai is 143g Hammer Hunter with rl16, wlrm primer at a vel of 3213fps. With a rifle set up for hunting to 800y this is the best vel to bc ratio. Gives the best point blank range and long range impact vel.

H4831SC and a 168 classic hunter shoots good out of my Cooper 280AI. Gets me 2900 fps out of a 24" barrel.

59.5 H4831sc
162 eldx
Nosler brass bumped .002
210m
.060 off
2920 fps
1/2moa
Sd 12
9 twist lilja
Close to max in this rifle
I wouldn't start here

Just finished a milder load for my .280AI this morning. My hunting loads are hot, and I wanted something that will be easier on brass and the barrel. This should work just fine from coyotes to elk if needed, and banging steel a long ways out.
Nosler .280AI brass
Fed GM210M
61.3gr H1000
160 Sierra Tipped Match King
2.697" CBTO (.0600" jump)
2909fps
.170" 3 shot @ 100. Need to go verify it holds at long range now.

Been following as I have been trying 4831sc in my rifle..shot okay but move to a retumbo load..but nothing set yet...been shooting nosler 140ab...
Have a pile of 168lrab...but will my barrel shoot them...
The rifle is an older 280 rem rechambered to an ai...22" noodle barrel...Remington mountain rifle....discolored bolt handle...
Don't know my twist in it...but if it is from say the 80's would it be a slower twist...if so that would mean it would probably be better for lighter bullets?

I shot a 120grn nosler bt.
65.5grns of 4831sc
Groups extremely well and its around 3300fps can't remember the exact number.
It puts a serious hurtin on deer and antelope.
