Brent, its funny you mention the parallax issue. that is the first thing I noticed behind the NXS when I got it. ANNOYING!

sad part, even my Atacr F1 is the same way but not near as bad.

One thing I absolutely LOVE is the locking turret on the 4-16 atacr. I think that would be great to have as an option for the 5-25. this is a very handy feature while hunting.

If u are looking for weight savings and compact March scopes are hard to beat for their glass quality, turrets and features. This is a 3-24x42 FFp with sunshade on, they are tiny scopes in comparison to most in that power range but have great glass, zero stops etc. Parralex will focus down to about 10 yds. Think scope weights around the 20 oz area.

Yup. The March is very nice.

My opinion (FWIW)..... The new Leupold stuff does look nice, but I'd still have a hard time trusting it over a Nightforce if you've got the room in your budget. Sure the weight savings would be nice, but there is a balance that can be found between the extra weight and the durability you get along with it.

Also, after having both I see very little reason to buy an NXS. If that's the budget range you want to stick to, just get an SHV 4-14 F1 and spend the rest on ammo. Agreed with other posters that the NXS is a really great, tough scope that'll serve you well. But the features are dated as compared to more recent offerings for the $ spent.

I have a ATACR 4-16x42 F1. I think the extra money spent on the ATACR line is worth every red cent. To me, it's the perfect combination of: compact size, practical magnification range, glass quality, not ridiculously heavy, unobtrusive mounting height, FFP illuminated reticle, and great turret setup. The only one that probably does it better is the S&B Ultra Short, but that's another $1k+. I see why some folks go with the 5-25, but to me the extra magnification just isn't worth the extra size and weight. I just don't use much over 16x in practical field application.

Well I picked up the ATACR 5-25/56 Saturday and now I need to figure out mounting options to have it sitting as low as possible? Any help on figuring out ring height? Only rings cabelas had for it where the 34 mm high and they looked way to tall and I didn't want to have them mount it and be stuck paying for something I was gonna need to change, especially at $190 .
Any preference toward rail or two piece bases?

I would give a hard look at Hawkins one piece mounts with integrated level on the rear cap.

awesome rings for the price. depending on your barrel contour you should be able to get away with medium height.

I have the same issue with the NF parallax but not with any of the others. The ATACR is by far much bulkier than any of the others

you do see it says "w/shade" ??

I did , but you wouldn't have posted a picture of the NF w/shade along with the others w/o shade if you were trying to show an unbiased comparison of physical size .

Photo is ~2 years old from a March scope thread. The NF's come in the box with the shade on I'm too lazy to take it off, VX-6's don't come with a shade, but so I don't melt any snowflakes here's an edited photo for a fair comparison, if anyone found the shades confusing I apologize.
