197 smk

So has anybody actually shot the 197 and got shot results as far as accuracy goes? Sounds like most are against hunting with them which I suspected would be the case but are they accurate atleast?

As for me,yes they shoot very well in my rogue, that is the only rifle I shoot them in tho. I load them exactly like the bergers

Go over to the Ballistic Studies page and read up on the research they have done on the Sierra Match King for hunting. Its a good read. I have a box of them and a box of the 183 MKs. Just not sure i really dare hunt with them after reading this article. I hear that they shoot really well. But expansion is very important in a hunting bullet.

I will be starting development with the 197SMK in a 28 Nosler.in a week or so. It is strictly a hunting rifle.

I have used several different "pointed" SMKs for hunting with excellent results.
6.5 142 SMK from jackrabbit to deer and pronghorn
6.5 150 SMK (only on coyote so far, but hope to have a deer tag this year)
7mm 183 SMK on deer and elk
.308 210 SMK on elk

I also plan to try the 110 SMK in my 6CM that is being built right now.
