Bore scope pics...is this normal?

You never know. That's my whole point.

I've had barrels that are beautiful on the inside that hate certain bullets or powders and fight every attempt at a good load.

I've also had factory barrels that had so much button chatter that it looked like railroad tracks ran through it. It would shoot almost anything I put through it. It was easy to find loads.

I just wanted to say that it may not be wise to send back a bad barrel that shoots well. It's possible the new barrel may look better but not shoot any better.

Exactly! The point remains the same that none of us can really know its full potential. As gohring3006 noted, it's an element of doubt that can be eliminated and the OP rightfully did just that. So which would you rather have ...

1. A barrel that shoots good with flaws like what the OP has ...

or

2. A barrel that shoots like #1 but without flaws.

Your comment "It's possible the new barrel may look better but not shoot any better", the opposite is also true.

Individuals have the ultimate responsibility of their decisions/actions and the consequences associated with it and each individual all deals with it differently. And as far as I know, no one is saying you are wrong.

Cheers!

I know what you mean but I still would not buy a new car with a screwed up paint job for the same price as another new car that was flawless, as I would expect a new car to be.
If the rifle was discounted to reflect the fact that in 6 months you might have to replace the barrel because it came with issues, then that is a different matter if you agree to those conditions. JMO not trying to start a fight.

A while back Alex Wheeler posted pictures of a nasty looking barrel. After a couple dozen posts of people trashing it he then said that barrel just set a world record....so I guess looks aren't everything.

It never is! Details please, I'm pretty sure the barrel maker is proud of it.

I can't remember where I saw it or who said it but he said "rifles don't win matches, people do".

If the barrel is "perfect" as you eloquently noted, what would prevent it from performing better than with flaw or imperfection. You must have a different definition of perfect and flawless. Cheers!
It could be any one or more of the other variables that contribute to "accuracy".

There are plenty of accurate rifles with minor imperfections in the bore.

It's probably one of the least important factors.

Many people who are completely happy with their rifles have never used a bore scope.

All it matters and what counts is the OP's decision. His money, his call, right or wrong, it's really that simple.

Bottom line is that the OP, purchased a premium product, that is less then stellar in apperance, of which, I think that if ANYBODY, where in his shoes, because you can clearly see that something is definitely not right with it, it needs factory attention.
I'm even sure, that the manufacture, would LIKE to see it, so they can fix the problem!
No questions here!

The OP doesn't want the barrel.. Your having a hard time with someone giving sound advice. For the life of me, I can't figure out why..
