285 ELD-M vs cow elk

I'm moving to 130s with the 18" 6.5x47 after seeing how my 130gr hybrids did at 1000yds at 2715fps out of my match gun, i'm pretty confident i can reach that with 130gr ELD-Ms and it should get give me some more energy on target for 600yds and in hunting.

If the 130 hybrid shot well for you, I wouldn't hesitate to use it on deer sized game. My daughter shot a 4 x 4 muley buck this past fall at 300 yards with her .260 using the 130 AR hybrid with great results.
Sam Millard over at panhandleprecision.com has a couple of articles and videos on his site where and his family has used the 130 AR hybrid with great results on deer and antelope.

I don't have experience with the 130 hybrid but shoot the 130 hunting out of one of my 6.5x47's. Worked awesome this year in Texas. Also shot 130 gr Accubond out of my other 6.5x47. 10 whitetail and one hog killed on that trip. Both bullets performed really good. Pass through on all animals from 80 to 300 yds. 130 hunting at 2975 fps. Accubond is 2900 fps.

I took a 120 class mature whitetail with my match gun this year with that bullet. DRT though spined. I've seen good results from it but have more faith in the ELD M. Also don't want to have both of my 6.5x47s running the same bullet.

I am 6.5-284 fan, and have used it for many years as my main hunting calibre with extensive developments with various projectiles.

Depending on the range and size of animail will be a deciding factor.

I liked the 129 - 130gr range, however have moved to the 143 - 147 range because of the high BC's as we speak.

They are both good bullets, performing well, where I have taken a few deer up to medium size to 500m so far, goal is 700 - 750m.

Head or neck shots, no probs. Shoulder or just behind, furthest shot deer, have moved a couple of bounds then droped (30m) max (deer taken over 350m). So anything under 350m wasn't/ isn't a problem.

I have both at the same velocity, 2960fps out of a 26" shillens match. Sub 1/4 moa @100m. A bit more recoil than the 129/130 range but managable.

My managable - I like it when I am still observing the target/ target area when and after the shot with minimal scope jump/ movement. There is a little, where I am slightly off target, however acquire agan with a little shift.

Like the performance so far

Hope pic displays, red stage.
