Long story short...Master piece arms barrel, 300 win mag, 100 rounds down the barrel. I bought a bore scope and decided to take a look at my "new" barrel. What I would like to know is...Should I be worried about what I found? Some strange gouge marks in several spots. Heres some pics...

The last few that have the red/orange looking stuff are in the chamber area

I don't think a custom rifle barrel should have all those scoring marks. I looked at the pics first and thought it was an OTC rifle barrel, which wouldn't have surprised me. If the rifle shoots well I wouldn't worry about what it looks like through your camera. If it shoots as bad as it looks I would raise cain with the barrel maker. Sometimes a bore scope is a tool to keep you up mulling things over at night instead of sleeping.

Some of the marks look like they were done with a Jag The patch comes off or gets stuck and hammering the cleaning rod to get it through. when a patch comes lose (For many reasons) don't force it pull it backwards and replace the jag with a much smaller one and push the patch out.

Some other places look like pitting or foreign material In the billet from the mill. this occasionally will happen and the barrel maker will/should replace it at no cost to you. sometimes I have found this type of defect in the chamber area while cutting the chamber, and if it looks like it will not clean up I send the barrel back.

Some of the defects you show, I have never seen and cant call them. but I would get in touch with the barrel maker and show him and ask for a solution to your problems and concerns.

As Gunpoor stated, This shouldn't be in a custom barrel.
