Anyone have any input on the older Winchester brass that came in boxes of 20 marked WW Super on the casing. I am looking for good brass to form to Ackley Improved for a newly built 22-250 rifle. Mostly varmint and coyotes but accuracy is key. Also wondering if Lapua will fire form. I heard it was too thick.
Thanks.

I use both in my 22-250AI, I anneal before fireforming and have no problem forming either. Lapua and WW-Super run about the same hardness.
I use the Lapua SR primer brass, it handles high pressure longer than LR primer brass.

I have 'Winchester' stamped brass that is not anywhere near as good as ' WW-Super' brass, the brass is brittle.

The ww-super brass is by far the better stuff of all Winchester made brass.

Cheers.
:)

I use Winchester .270 Win brass to form for my .25-06 AI. Works fine. Pretty **** tough, too. Had a primer completely blow and evacuate down the bore (had a rogue round go overpressure) and the brass never ruptured. The case head looked like a gorilla with a sledgehammer beat on it and left a perfectly readable imprint on my bolt face, but otherwise, looked in reloadable condition. I wasn't about to reload it after something like that, but it never ruptured.

morning, used old and new Winchester brass for 30yrs. only
1 blew a primer. primer pocket marginal. i use Lapua brass
for my custom 308, 243Ai and 250 savage. very good brass.
a small reminder when u find a reloading product that works
well for u. BUY a large amount, will not see the same product
in years to come. the ammo makers r not interested in ur
satisfaction, the loaded ammo makes more money
than the selling of reloading supplies. just me

Thanks everyone. I just found Lapua on sale and pulled the trigger.
You'll enjoy the Lapua cases.

Also, just noticed you're an LRH Team Member... How does one get that designation? Not trying to call you out, just curious, cause I've never seen that banner before.
