Kimber Rifles

I Looked on line today at the Kimber Rifles and was impressed. Then I saw two used ones today at Scheels. The Mountain and the Hunter both were really lite but how do they compare to other semi custom rifles...........accuracy, dependability, and customer service??

I had a mountain accent in 6.5 CM that shot to the 1" guarantee they have. Nice rifle, only sold it because I was offered more than I paid for it. To me I felt it was almost too light of a rifle. I have two other kimbers, a classic 308 and a varmint 22-250. Both of them shoot great with handloads and the 22-250 hasn't let me down yet coyote hunting.
I know a Cooper is another $1000 but to me they are well worth it. Cooper has very few negative reviews vs the kimber and the roulette you read about. Again I like all three kimbers I've had and have been lucky with them all being good shooters.

Had a Montana in 308 at one time and it would shoot the first two shots touching and the third was 3/4 of an inch off at 100. Third shot was probably due to the pencil contour barrel.

I have a Kimber 84M in 6.5 Creedmoor and it's a tack driver. I was very impressed with its out of the box performance. It's also very light and easy to carry.

I will never buy another Kimber. I still have the 84M in 308. It has been back to the Younkers factory 3 times (burr on muzzle crown, Pillars misaligned, and with magazine holding 3 spares, the floor plate would drop open when one round was fired. Each time, they repaired it free of charge., but now I don't know what to expect of it.

I just bought two new Kimber rifles. A Montana 300wsm and a Hunter 280AI. The Montana is on it's way back to Yonker's for the second time with feeding issues. I haven't got to shoot the Montana yet so I can't say how it shoots. The hunter shoots sub moa when I single feed it but when I load the magazine it flattens the bullet tips upon recoil in the magazine and opens up the shot group by inches. Customer service is working on both issues. They had me send the magazine for the Hunter back to them also so they can look at it. It seems to have a very weak spring. Customer service seems concerned about fixing these issues for me so far, other than their gunsmith that did nothing to the Montana the first trip back to them so customer service has elevated it to their top guy to look at it. All I can do is wait and see what happens next. As far as the Hunter 280AI, it shoots very accurate with Nosler 140 accubonds and Honady 162 ELDX. That is with shelf ammo so far. When I do my part it will shoot sub moa with three shot groups but after three it gets hot and needs a cool down.
